Trying to set up internet banking with SCB (scbeasy.com)

No problem when I enter my card data but on step 2

it will not accept my Passport number despite going to the

local branch and confirming that they have the correct

number in their system.

Anyone had similar problem ?

The new process is to register online, no paperwork or visit to the bank.

I originally went to the bank to register and was told to do it online

as they no longer use the paper form based registration.

"Contact Us" on their website does not get answered either :o

I completed the online application for online banking a while ago, too. I never heard anything since.

I have to say I am not too happy with the communication of Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) either, they do not send any kind of statements out, that is for a passbook savings account as well as for a checking business account. Regular statements by mail were requested several times but never started coming.

They only got me to fill in a form and pay a fee just to receive a one-time print-out of my account statement once at the branch.

Does anyone know a Thai bank that sends paper statements to your address for savings accounts and has got good online banking?

In contrast: I opened a savings account in Singapore as a non-resident and they send not only monthly statements but also receipts for every transfer received, term deposit opened, and they send them to Thailand! Online banking working great, etc .. very professional.

Naka,

you can't do it via internet till you set it up at the bank first. If you want info call there help line 02777-7777 english speaking and they will tell you what's required. Also when you want to add a 3rd party bank account you will need a " one time password"

I just opened a new account with SCB at their Sukhumvit 43 Branch.

Excellent service, excellent communication and my online sign up and username and passwords were issued to me there and then, though i had to wait 2 days to actually be able to log in.

I didnt plan on opening an account there, i was in the bank depositing some money for payment to another business account, but was so impressed with the service opened a personal account there.

So far, im very impressed with them.

UOB has what they call a "Statement Savings Account" a passbook is not issued for

this type of account but they send you a paper statement each month, (and it does arrive).

Online banking is rudimentary but works fine.

I have a "UOB Convenience Account" - used to be a Bank of Asia account, so not sure if the product is still offered, but probably. It's a combination of current and savings account. The current account has nil balance, but whenever you write a cheque, they take money from your savings account automatically to put in your current account to cover it. They aslo send statements, and have internet banking, which I think is one of the better ones around in Thailand.

You are right John 1.

My problem was caused initially by the very eager to assist Help Ladies who accost you

as you walk in the door, they are not all that well versed in the technicalities.

Anyway this time I just strode past them and talked to one of the 'real' staff, two minutes

later I walked out the door with the 2 sealed envelopes for login name and password.

I like the steps taken by them to ensure the upmost privacy is held by sealing your username and password in those letters.

All goes down the toilet when they resend you a requested reminder via email.

What is a 'requested reminder' ? By the wat the sealed envelopes are of the computer

generated type where it is printed while the envelope is already closed, al la payslip envelopes.

Naka - I asked for a new username and password to be sent as I lost the old one, which they did send - via email.

I don't believe you ... sounds like you have an axe to grind !

Anyway ... How does one 'lose' a username and password ?

Why would I lie? No axe to grind - I've been with SCB over 6 years. Deleted the original email as the information sent was obviously a bit on the sensitive side :o

This was way before the recent revamp of the site, a few months after scbeasy.com first started out.

/edit - didn't delete, will PM...
