Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to extend my 3 month B non immigrant visa by 10 days. Will I have to do a border run? Or will I be able to extend it at immigration in Bangkok. If anyone could get back to me on this issue, it would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

You will have to make a border run and extensions are only 7 days unless you qualify for one year type extension.

Although there is (was?) room for discretion there if you've a very good reason. I got 15 days extension on my already 15 day extended 2 month tourist visa when my wife got sick and I had to change my flight, though this was a few years ago.

Edit: She wasn't my wife then, in fact, but it didn't seem to matter. It wasn't a non-imm B though, so maybe that makes a difference here. Was trying to suggest that discretion is used on rare occasions so perhaps things aren't always absolutely set in stone? Only time I've experience that here though, I must say.

That was then - seven days is now.

Indeed. How things change! If I recall correctly I needed 12 more days so they gave me another one of those 15 day jobs. They were actually pretty nice about it too.

What are the requirements for a one year extension?

I also heard that they only give 30 day extensions the 1st few times you apply, is this true?
