Hotel check out- but no money

Little bit of good advice from larry.. (with thanks)

I am a bit old now, 57 y.o. and walk a different road than in my younger years but I still remember a few do and don't items that I would like to pass on to you and maybe to your readers via you.

When I was checking out of my hotel (Suk-vet, Soi 3) for a 7 a.m. flight I could not help but notice the man, and his lady, in front of me checking out also. He was in quite a state of despair because he had tried to check out and then found out that his "5 day love" had dined out via his refrig in his room for all 5 days without his knowledge....obviously brain dead. Point is, it took ALL of his remaining cash to check out and he did not even have enough money for the taxi ride to the airport. He had scurried about the block and found that his bank card (not an ATM debit) would not allow him to take cash out.....5:00 a.m. He was in a mess.

I offered to share my taxi with him and he jumped at the free ride. On the way out to the taxi he mentioned that he could get more money from his credit card at the airport.....he thought. When he said this I heard the cash register in his "5 day love"'s head. Naturally she wanted to go with him to the airport. I discouraged this and he left her and jumped in the taxi. On the way to the airport, I asked him how long he had been in Bangkok. He told me 7 days and that it was his first trip.

LONG LONG STORY SHORTER:

I listened as he told me several mistakes he had made....here goes.

1. He said that he had one girl the first day and did not like her so the next day he went back to the same bar and got the second girl.

MISTAKE: There is no shortage of girls in Bangkok....or any other city. NEVER take the second girl from the same bar as the first girl. The first girl will lose face because you replaced her. The second girl will lose face because you did not select her the first time. The second girl will try to take you for every penny that she can to prove her skill to her co-workers. If you dump a girl from a bar, go to a different bar for the next girl.

2. He said that the second girl stayed with him 24 hours a day and she would bug him to buy things for her EVERYWHERE she went.

MISTAKE: The first word that you should learn to say in any country you visit is NO. Do not try to explain no, it is just no. Not a mean no.....just no.

3. MISTAKE: If a "5 day love" goes with you and tarnishes your trip with her demands, replace her. When you take a girl out of a bar, mention to her in casual conversation that you have some business to take care the next day (do not say a time) and split off from her in the morning. If you decide that you like her, you know where you can find her. If not, the goodbyes have been said. This works well the second day also. If she does not make demands from you then she might be ok for a 24 hour escort but remember....this is not love, it is commerce. She wants to get the highest price for her merchandise. You should not be willing to pay more than a reasonable price.

4. He seems to have had quite a lot to drink.

A professional "whorist" would never do this. The girl does not appreciate it (nobody loves a drunk except another drunk) and she will disrespect you if you drink too much. She is not impressed by the number of drinks you have, she is only interested in how many drinks she has. With her drinks, do not be stingy but do not be stupid either. If you value drinking that much, then guzzle away but you will be a target if you try to seriously mix the two.

5. The hotel refrig:

The hotel will empty it upon your arrival if you so request......I often request this.
