Extension Of Visa

Featured Replies

I'm planning to stay in Thailand for about 7 months as a tourist. I have a Double Entry Tourist Visa (60+60 days) issude at the Thai Abassy in Stockholm, Sweden. I'm confused about the visa rules and can't find the right information anywhere and I hope someone can give me an answer to my questions.

This is my situation:

First entry August 21 (60 days visa)

I made an extension of 30 days on October 16 at Immigration in Phuket Town

My second entry will be on November 14 after a visa run to Myanmar, and then I'll get 60 more days

My question is what to do after that 60 days, because I'm planning to stay until April 2008.

Is it possible to make a new extention of 30 days at Immigration in Phuket Town?

And then is it possible to leave the country and apply for a new tourist visa in for example Malaysia? In that case how many days can I apply for, can I apply for a new Double Entry Visa?

And one more thing: I've heard that the new visa rules say that you can only enter Thailand 3 times in a year and then have to wait 90 days to enter again. Is that true?

I appreciate all help I can get!

What you heard about only three entries in a year isn't true. Some people are confused by a rule for visa exempt entries and that doesn't apply to you for now. You can request another 30 day extension, and after that leave the country to apply for another

tourist visa for another 60 days + extension. That could get you close to your departure date in April. Also, depending on your nationality, it may be possible to do "visa exempt"

entris for 30 days at a time. Those are possible for 90 days within a six month period.
