Ladies, Your Favorite Guilty Pleasures?

Featured Replies

From chick flicks to chocolate bars, what's your favorite guilty pleasures?

I absolutely love reading the sheer fun bitchery that is Go Fug Yourself. Two women who, quite amusingly, shred other (mostly famous) people's clothing choices.

Where else could you get a review like this?

Seriously, if there were a Broomcorn Farms Harvest Pageant Barbie, she would be wearing something like this for the talent portion. And Patti wants you to DRINK IT IN, GOOD PEOPLE, like it's the bourbon you keep in your hip flask (or in the fully stocked wet bar she's got stowed away somewhere in the neighborhood of her pelvis).
:o

Other favorite guilty pleasures involve chocolate naturally :D

I have to admit I love chocolate custard (pudding to us americans out there) and make it up when I am feeling particularly PMSy and homesick at the same time.

I love chocolate, but never feel guilty about it, including most other pleasures. These days, there's no need, either, because chocolate is an antioxidant, so I treat it like a vegetable now.

I guess the one guilty pleasure would be to surf the net when I should be working.

I don't think I have any guilty pleasures actually - I've been thro too much in the last year nearly dying etc so I don't worry about that sort of thing any more...

trashy television! project runway, america's next top model, etc, etc

i'm not too guilty about my pleasures in general :-P, but i do make a mean chocolate mousse (valrhona chocolate, raw organic eggs, organic whipping cream, butter) -- that is so amazing i probably should feel guilty about! ;-P

good sex is not guilty, but certainly a pleasure. :-P

No doubt - I don't blame you. I hope your health is as good as your perspective. :o

Trashy books - Martina Cole, Jackie Collins, Jilly Cooper I salute you all

Trashy true life mags. The ones that old ladies leave in laundrettes mostly.

Jerry Springer, America's Next Top Model, period dramas

Red wine, beer, rum and cokes, oh and anything with a percentage when the need takes hold

Jazzy and non-jazzy cigarettes

Nice meals out with friends

Spending too much time on the net instead of working (facebook, thaivisa, popbitch - I have given you hours of my life. I hope you appreciate it.)

Drink and dialing / drink and texting / drink and answering. Anything to do with phones and alcohol actually - always ends in tears.

Although all these things make me feel guilty in their own little way, the pleasure always outweighs the guilt. If the guilt outweighs the pleasure then I tend not to indulge. Except banana cake and chocolate oranges - they give me nothing but pain but I cannot say no... but I guess I could take Kat's approach - chocolate oranges are fruits right?

And canadian girl - hows about good sex with a bad person? Not that I have ever indulged.....; )

Chocolate (I'm trying to lose weight).

When in NYC: cannolis (I haven't been able to find any in LOS, and believe me, I have tried!)

Surfing TV when I should be working (like right now..... :o

Macadamia Nuts.

Almond Nuts.

Relaxing on the sofa with a Big Bag of Doritos (Tortilla Chips) and Salsa.

Eating one of my Gooey Chocolate Puddings with Fresh strawberries! AND having a second portion even though I am full. :o

A fresh coconut by the pool at the Gym or stopping off for a 2 hour massage (when I know I should really be working!! :D

Reading a book or magazine and Spending time on ThaiVisa, Facebook & Skype (when I should be doing REAL work or cleaning!) :D

Never tried cannolis Sheryl I like Indian barfhi and those little arabic syrupy ones

Sheryl, as soon as I got back to NYC I would walk to Little Italy everyday from the East Village to Dante's, and the other place on Bleeker where everyone buys their cakes. I would sit there and have a cannoli and beautiful, REAL cappucino, and other gorgeous, fluffy, airy delicacies. I gained about 10-15 pounds (or nearly one stone, I think), most of which my family and friends said I needed, bless their hearts.

Wasting time.

Procrastinating.

Junk magazines (like National Enquirer)

Lotions & potions. (My worst being overindulging in rich creamy, expensive hair conditioner.)

Lament not having a bath and only a shower. My biggest guilty pleasure was always lying in a big warm bath, wasting time, procrastinating, big dollop of hair conditioner in hair, face pack smothered on, great smelling soapy things, and trashy magazine to read while my toes turned wrinkly-pruney. Utter blissssss....

Nice one Eek! TOTALLY AGREE!

And then after de-buffing, de-fuzzing, de-conditioning, de-facepacking - phew the things us gals do to look good eh :D - the creak of the bathroom door opening and.......a hunky toned guy (my boyfriend) entering to play "Find the soap!!!" :o

Note to self: We must move back into a place with a bath!!! :D:D

oh baths....*sigh*...the thought of them just makes me go all tingly. Instead I have been freezing shower on a cold dark rainy morning and evening to look forward to. And this is the tropics??

I suspect this is rather more a routine for Brit :D

Ah yes....

Ferrara's also very good.

Everytime I go back to visit I gain at leastr 10lbs courtesy of cannolis. (Well OK, NYC pizzas and a binge up on Arthus Avenue and in Vinnie's clam bar also contribute)

Seonai, you know not what you are missing.

The world's greatest dessert, IMHO.

Simple yet elegant.

A perfect blend of textures and flavors.

Oh for a cannoli.........................

Totally agree on the trashy books and magazines!

oh when sick at home -and homesick!- watching Oprah/Sex and the city etc etc. [This isnt often fortunatly-maybe unfortunatly!!]

Im a sucker for the bananapancakes with chocolatesauce our neighbour makes....[nasty habbit!]

But Mssabai, what about being drunk and telephones makes it worth it?

Just curious...!

If I tend to text or call someone drunk [ususally leave the thing at home, learned from the passed!!]

It doesnt make me feel good at all [the next morning] ...

Guilty pleasures....

1. dark chocolate. Makes me feel soo much better. In fact, I am eating some right now! :D

2. trashy romance novels....haha...

3. watching movies that make me cry (I get very emotional over movies and books...)

4. checking out attractive men (purely innocent, really :o )

5. talking on the phone for a long time with my friends and boyfriend and using way too many minutes

6. And finally, eating lots and lots of icecream! (oh and lets not forget the minor coffee addiction....)

watching that young goat in the neighbourhood :o

Drawing the curtains in the middle of the afternoon, turning the aircon down COLD (to remind me of home) and snuggling under a heap of blankets with a trashy novel.

Eating really hot, freshly cooked potato wedges with sour cream and tomato sauce... You guys can keep your chocolate and sweets. Fried salty potato in any form is my favourite food!

Doughnuts - jam ones, chocolate or iced - in fact any kind of doughnuts!

Oooh, I do love a nice doughnut! Seldom eat them now as I'm constantly watching my figure! :o
