Same for me kangeroo man!

I work five months in Europe and hang cool for seven in Thailand.

Haven't done a two weeker to Thailand for four years now. Good times are rollin' :o

My buddies back home think I'm mad for passing up lucrative contracts but for me it's better to have some money and be happy than lots of money and not happy at all :D

I live in Sydney and got to Thailand once a year without fail for a month, next trip will be this December which I cant wait. Looking to live in Thailand and help with my father inlaws property developing company which is one of the biggest in Thailand. If all goes well he will let me take over from him when he retires in a few years.

I got marries to my Thai wife this year on valentines day, was with her for 6 years before that.

Letting an outsider take over the family business seems unusual, all the more so as you are foreign. If it works out, you're a lucky man!

Yes when it comes to money i would prefer to have a bit less and enjoy it more , the other thing for me, enjoying Thailand is leaving Thai for a few months ,if ya know what i mean .

Im not spending a cent, He is just going to hand it over to me if I want it. His company is very profitable and he is one of the hardest workers I have ever seen. He never used to like me much as I guess he is protective of his daughters but overtime we have become good friends and he treats me like a son. He isnt after my money as he is already quite wealthy.

He has told me at first he didnt like me because he wants his daughter to have a great life and didnt want her to struggle financially (as im not rich) he thought I was a bum. But now he knows me, he likes me alot and wants to help me and my wife to create a good life together. Plus he is looking to retire very comfortably and help his daughter and I to not worry financially

I'd no more turn down an oppurtunity like that down than the next man, but ultimately feel happy to have cut my own path, even if i don't end up fantastically wealthy - pride i guess.

Nearly the same as you, 'Roo. High season in Melbourne (Nov-Apr), low season in Phuket (Melbourne's winter). 6 months each. Perfect, since the quieter pace of low season suits me. Although Australian, I feel more at home in Phuket. (Yes, I was a fairly quick adaptor: learn a new level of patience, don't expect any western concept of fairness, and avoid those of the tourist farang who occupy the two extremes of either being patronising to Thais (do/say-gooders) - it is as irksome to Thais as it is to us - or being loud/aggressive/rude.)

I have just moved to Edinburgh, Scotland and am unemployed. I can't afford my own apartment so share with three other people.

I am just about to hang myself in my bedroom while wishing I was in Thailand.

ONLY JOKING, things are not so good for me now but I will be back to Thailand one day !!!!!!!!!! :o

I am past the rose glasses stage so about 3 months in LOS every year seems to work out perfectly for us. The rest of my time is spent at our homes in Kona and Santa Barbara and traveling to new places. Everyplace has is pros and cons so we have found that by moving around a bit we seem to be able to enjoy the best of all worlds.

Do not dispair. I was in a similar situation back in '04. Nine months on the dole, over 100 job apps before I landed a postion with a small local (S.E. England) company. Thereafter it has gone ballistic and I'm now doing very well.

Currently in central Viet Nam and thanks to PB Air's thrice weekly Da Nang / Bangkok service can do long weekends or week visits back to Thailand (booked on this Thursday's flight) as often as the project permits. As I am a contractor in the oil & gas business I have to go where the work is but manage to keep myself in S.E. Asia within easy reach of BKK.

I used to come to TL to see my folks every year since the 80's, spent a month each time.

Now they are gone, but I still make my annual visit to see my siblings and childhood friends. The only different from those days is my visit seems longer average up to four months. Usually during four months in BK, I would take overseas trips to China, Laos, Camboda.

Seeing families and old friends are the core of my visiting LOS. Nothing else.

I live in Florida, we got beautiful gorgeous sunny days almost 7 months. :o We also got a sizable of Thai expats. Everything we need is found closed to home.

So, spend 8 months in my paradise here and 4 months there works best for me. :D
