NEW TOURIST POLICE STATION IN TRANG

In late November 2007, Tourist Police Station 3 (Krabi), which comes under the control of Division 5 of the Tourist Police and is responsible for both Krabi and Trang provinces, assigned tourist police officers under the command of Police Major General Pisit Bakbara to permanent posts in Trang Province. Their task is to ensure public safety and provide services as required to both Thai and foreign tourists. The new tourist police station is located at Trang Railway Station. In addition to manning the new office, tourist police officers will patrol places that attract large numbers of tourists, such as Pak Meng Pier and Chao Mai Pier.

Besides their prime objective of ensuring public safety, the tourist police are trained to handle complaints, help tourists who may run into problems, and to investigate and suppress tourism-related crimes.
