Garmin Maps Question

Featured Replies

I have a Garmin GPSMAP 60csx bought in the USA and a Garmin Nuvi 260W bought in China. I have the City Navigator SD cards for Europe and Southeast Asia, both were bought in the USA from Garmin. My Nuvi 260W has Chinese, English, Thai, Malaysian etc...

My 60csx only has english.

When I use my Southeast Asia card in my 260W, I can view the maps in Thai or English but the same card used in my 60csx only works in English.

The City Navigator Southeast Asia SD Card doesn't have a version, the maps say May 2008.

Unfortunately, the Thailand maps are no longer available from Garmin in the USA. Discontinued.

You can buy them from Amazon.com, I bought mine from Garmin USA in December, alittle less than one month ago.

Unfortunately it does not ask! It just asks if I am in Kansas. I have tried it outside in an open field. My friend, who also lives here in Bangkok, has the same issue. He bought both units in the USA and brought them here when he moved, so we have two Streetpilot c330 with two Thailand esri maps, and neither unit can find satellites. It is as if it is seeking satellites in the USA
After a period of not finding satellites it will ask if you have moved hundreds of KM's since you last used it. You need to answer yes.

Also when you say outside , were you outside but in a car?

Some of the films on cars screens block the signal, try it outside with nothing overhead (trees , car roof etc) on a clear sunny day (they sometimes don't work if its cloudy or hazy.

Cheers

You may need to go to the options menu and look at what map is being used by the device. If you bought it in the US, it may have a US base map built in. You can check or uncheck maps in the Maps option page, make sure your Thailand map is switched on and your US map is switched off.

It may work, it worked for my US bought Garmin units.

I have used the Rottwieller maps, they are great but where i live still miss out some of the lanes etc. I have also recently got a copy of the garmin maps on sd card and put them into my gps. Managed to get them off ebay for about $80. Had no probs with either.

Hi.... I just bought a new NUVI 205 from the USA on my last visit a week ago. Got it from BEST BUY for $118 USD. Killer deal. Anyone send me a link for the Rottweiler Thailand Map... or GARMIN etc for Thailand. Needs to be very detailed. I found a couple but they were not good. I dont want to lay out $100 to find they are crap.

I would like anyone who has a good Thai map for Garmin to please send it my way. Thanks. PM me if needed.

I have a 60csx which i use, worldmap 3.01 with 6.137 overlayed and the thailand map which is the best detailed map i have seen yet, get these two programs off pb or some other torrent site and find the garmin keygen version 1.3 which has the thai map unlock generator. pm if you need help setting up.

BTW folks the v9 ESRI maps are out..

Got a modslap when I posted them so I cant link.. But easy to find..

I tried the link above... downloaded the map and 1.3 keygen... but i did as the readme says... but still cant unlock the map :o

might have to clean the registry but try this, delete all those programs first. Now install worldmap3.01(192 mb approx) next install mapsource 6.137(approx. 45 mb) now copy thailand map v8.0 (111mb approx) to c:\garmin folder then open c:\garmin\thailandmapv8.0 click on the registry keys icon(looks like a rubiks cube) click yes when it tells you about changing registry keys. Now open mapsource\hook up garmin unit(might have to let it find driver for it) and go to mapsource menu bar>utilities>click get unit id. now open keygen 1.3 and enter id click generate(wont need this number) next drop down and pick thailand v8.0 map and hit generate, this is your map unlock code. next go back to msource util bar>unlock maps yes you have key/i will type it in/say no to updating unit or maps/no thanks i dont want to register/im done and should be good to go. Now when you open mapsource pick amnat charoan blahblahblah map, set scale to 20 miles or lower and detail to high or highest. Hopefully you have a highly detailed map of thailand now. let me know how it goes. This will only install on your pc, you will have to transfer maps to your portable unit under transfer in your menu bar thru the usb, i have the complete map on my csx, not sure how much memory your nuvi has. The detail on this map is fantastic and even has all the fuel, food, hotel, shopping even schools on it albeit a little outdated.

Actually you can use any version of mapsource, even the newest one.But with the newer versions, which normally only unlock online, you go to utilities>manage map products>unlock regions>add and put in your generated unlock code.

Thanks I will try that I would love to have the latest version to use instead of 6137.

The Nuvi 200 is on sale in the US. Can the ESRI Thailand maps be loaded on the Nuvi 200?
check it out , but im lead to beleive that the 200 is not a maps unit, ie cannot have additional maps installed,

I have had a NUVI 200 for one year. You can use a SD card for any additional map you wish. It works fine.

If you bought the NUVI 200 in Thailand with the Thai map, you will be able to use GARMIN CITY NAVIGATOR USA or EUROPE using a 2Go SD CARD that you can upload yourself if you are a registered GARMIN customer and understand some computering...

I copied the zip file as instructed but i still cant see my maps on my etrex legend hcx.

Just copy the zipped file onto an SD card and insert in your Garmin, No need for Mapsource or unlocking, Work fine.

Empty SD card, Create folder GARMIN insert zipped File in it, It is already unlocked and will work directly from there no problems.

Found all this out tonight while trying to sort mates Bargain Nuvi 310 from Tesco that only comes with THAI MAPS :D You can change the Language to English and Text, but when you use the Garmin all roads and writing on maps are in Thai, so even when you search for a place only Thai Language comes up :D But allsorted now, New Thai 8.1 loaded and working fine, Loaded the Full Asia Map too as a trial, that works fine too !! Well here anyway :) But shows all the other country maps loaded, so sure will be fine in other countries too!! Amazing how all these Guys find all these unlocks and solutions !! Worked for my mate though !! Just wish i had known when i spent 11000 Baht on original software from ESRI then another 7000 (New Price) with my new Nuvi 770 :D

Can anyone help me find out why i cannot see my maps on my etrex legend hcx? Been trying for days to get my Garmin Thailand StreetMap v9 NT on sd card and still cannot get them to show.

Please help...............

Erm.. Really obvious one.. Are you zoomed in ??

I was struggling with my first map pack install.. Why is it just some blocks.. Zoomed in.. ohh there it is !!

..just wanted to bump this thread a bit and to see if Thai Maps v11 is the latest iteration of ESRI maps for Garmin GPS units....

I want to make a back up copy of my current v11 2GB chipset, how do I go about it?

1. Version 11.1 is the latest ESRI Thai map.

2. You copy the GPS memory files, just like any other backup. If you are talking about the actual chipset coding, that's proprietary info.
