How To Make Friends In Bkk?

Featured Replies

Ok so I've met some nice people on gay.com... but when 99 out of 100 want to give you their hotel room # instead of talking about being friends, it's a little annoying... :o

I've recently broken up with my Thai BF (mutual split) whom I had moved here with from the US, and come to realize how my life revolved around his life and his friends and his family etc... so I'm trying to just find some nice people to hang out with here who don't want to hang out with me with any alterior motives other than friendship.

Any advice appreciated. :D

Well, the cruising sites aren't really good friendship places... it can take a while to develop a network of good people, and you do have to be careful with foreigners here as well as Thais.

If you are looking for gay foreign friends, I'd suggest hanging out a bit at @Richard's on Silom Soi 2- mostly an older crowd, but well worth knowing, in my opinion. Soi 4 isn't bad for that either, but a lot of the guys there will be more focussed on looking at the Thais. You could possibly find yourself involved in one of the groups of "regulars" around the bars there.

None of these places are ideal, but you might meet the one or two people that introduce you later to a good group.

Good luck!

The ideas given are excellent. The important thing is to get out and meet people, it doesn't matter so much where--there isn't a perfect place, but with time and effort you can create your own circle of friends.

It takes some work to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Another idea - as you are now living in BKK, think about what you like to do. Do you have any hobbies or interests? Maybe join a couple of clubs for people with the same interests - the same as you would back home.

Go to <www.longyangclub.org/thailand> They have monthly activities. It's a nice group of guys Thais and farang.

Friendship is their objectives. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys. :o

I wouldn't mind having a group of friends that go out regularly... I do enjoy dancing and drinking, but I miss my gay friends back home that I could hang out with and know that we were just there as friends, and no one was gonna get jealous and bitchy if I tried to talk to other ppl... lol

TIPSYBOB I'll check that group out too, sounds great.
