I am pretty sure but wanted to double check.

If someone is entering the USA with a B2 from Thailand

Does the US port of entry alwasy stamp for 6 months?

If for instance your return ticket shows your leaving in 3 weeks will they ever stamp for that 3 weeks?

Just checking becuase we may or may not want to extend this B2 trip through xmas.

The chop at the U.S. border isnormally 6 months, with "normally" being the operative word.  Have had friends with their Thai GF going on he

first trip to the U.S. with a note written right on top of the U.S. visa by the ConOff here in Bangkok that she must report back to the Consulate within three days of return to Thailand, after her "restricted" 30-day U.S. visa.  She, and a couple of others, got 6 months on arrival.

On the other hand, my wife's passport was running out in 17 days when we arrived at PDX, explained problem to the ICE officer at arrival, we had tickets departing in 14 days, and she was stamped in for 16 days, a bit of leeway.  Nice (for a change) of the ICE officer.

Long story how that happened, but worked out OK.

hers is a regular 90 day single use type visa. So I wonder if there is any

reason they would not stamp 6 months?

My husband's always gotten 6 months on his passport even though he told them he was only staying a month.

We are not thinking of skirting & doing the AOS but instead would

be nice to burn up 6 months of the K1 process we plan on doing.

If so, that's the "use between" for entry to the U.S. dates.

he Expiration Date for the visa should not be confused with the authorized length of your stay in the U.S., given to you by the U.S. immigration inspector at port-of-entry, on the Arrival-Departure Record, Form I-94, or I-94W for the Visa Waiver Program. The visa expiration date has nothing to do with the authorized length of your stay in the U.S. for any given visit.

I think not, "no harm," that is, but then I'm not a CIS or ConOff so what the hel_l do I know??  Surely you both shouldn't be penalized for practicing for a few months, my now wife & I did for eight years....

Yes I agree we should not be penalized

You know sometimes it makes me crazy how we who pay the taxes

have to tip toe around while trying to do any of these things.

I am always worried some official will say ahhhh now no visa for you
