Thailand is a good country to retire, however if you count the huge income tax on incomes, the draconian labour laws that prevent that retirees can do something, as for everything a work permit is needed, and it is impossible to get a work permit on a visa for retirement, the skyhigh prices for imported products due to import taxes, the dangerous roads, airpollution, just to mention some issues I don't think Thailand will be on the 4th place.
