What's The Best Visa Options

Featured Replies

I plan to go to Thailand and spend a year in that area. This whole Visa thing seems complicated and I already posted some questions here about it.

So far, the best option I see is:

-Get a 2 months travel visa, extend it to one more month

-Go out and come back, ask for 2 months travel visa, extend it to one more month

-Go out, come back for 1 month without Visa (up to 3 times)

This would give me 9 months total, should be enough. Then I can spend time in surrounding countries. What else do I need to know?

Last Visa I got was Category O Cost in the UK £95 good for multiple entry, and last for one year from date of issue.

This allows you 3 months in Thialand then a quick run to nearest border, walk out and come back for a further 3 months and so it goes on until your time is up. I think this sounds the best bet for you. As for working thats a no no on this visa

I did a quick search about the Visa you talk about but it's confusing. What are the requirements? I've read it is easier to get a multiple-entry Visa in Australia, Europe, US and UK. I'm in France right now but I will apply from Canada, is the Thai embassy in Canada generous?

If I work remotely for projects in Canada, correct me if I'm wrong, but I shouldn't need any Visa. There isn't any difference between working with my laptop in Thailand, on Canarian beach or in my flat, is there? I'm not doing any business whatsoever related to Thailand or Thai people.

Do not know if Canada will issue you a Multi Entry Non O Visa. You will have to ask them.

If not maybe they will give you a double or triple Tourist Visa. When these are used up you could go to a neighbouring country to Thailand and get another Tourist Visa.

All depends what the Embassy in Canada will give you.

Canada is as tough as nails to deal with regarding Thai visa's.

Do not believe you will receive such a visa in Canada or at most other Consulates. You do need a work permit to do any kind of work (although nobody seems to be actively searching out those that may be using the internet for more than game playing).

OK, so overall the best option seems the first one:

-Get a 2 months travel visa, extend it to one more month

-Go out and come back, ask for 2 months travel visa, extend it to one more month

-Go out, come back for 1 month without Visa (up to 3 times)

Which gives me between 6 and 9 months in Thailand, and I guess I can have the same kind of tourist Visa to visit surrounding countries (and Australia where I don't need visa)

Should be plenty to learn Thai language and martial arts.
