Non-immig (b) Application - Must Be In Home Country?

Featured Replies

I am a UK passport holder but don't intend going back to the UK for quite some time. I need to apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa B - can I do this at a Thai consulate which is not in my home country? I will be in Hong Kong and would like to do it there, if possible (I am not a Hong Kong resident).

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

There's no residential requirements for most countries. You can certainly apply in Hong Kong.

Thanks. Do you know if you have to apply for a work permit at the same time as applying for a multi-entry Non-Immig B visa?

You apply for the WP in country and not at the Embassy - the Labour Department

And do not believe you are going to obtain a multi entry B visa anywhere in the area without the work permit.

You dont have to go back to the UK but I believe you do need to leave Asia.

If you have a company to sponsor you then go to Perth Australia. I did this back in June with a UK passport, you submit documents in person and collect Visa 2 days later on a Tuesday or Thursday only, fee was AUD225 for a 1 year multi entry, the flight can be cheap too from Phuket to Perth return I paid under 16,000B with Tiger Airways, strangely enough the price was cheaper if booked in two legs i.e. Phuket>Singapore>Perth rather than 1 ticket even though it was exact same flights??

YES, must be in home country if applicant has a dumb Thai consultant who says so.

Before going to Sunbelt, my friend had to do this, only to find out from Sunbelt it was wrong and then he eventually got it in Singapore in one day without having to go to his home country.

What's even worse is that despite the fact he was wrong, that same Thai consultant got very angry about his doing it with Sunbelt the 'correct' way. Shouldn't that Thai consultant have been apologetic instead, considering he gave very wrong and expensive bad advice?

Was shocked to then later find that same dumb company advertising here on ThaiVisa for a short while.

So that means if I transferred from our Singapore office to our BKK office I would have to go back to the UK?

Then again I would only need a single entry would I not and have a 1 year applied for in BKK along with the WP?

You would only require a single entry to start. And with proof of work permit application/company paperwork that could be obtained in the local area.

Yes - I see now

Singapore does not give out multiple entry B for any reason - even VP's of very large MNC's who visit regularly from regional HQ in Singapore have been refused :o

Yes I can confirm as at June Singapore only give 3 month not multi entry, I asked most consulates around Thai even though I was advised I couldnt do it, just wanted to hear it for myself. This is the response I got from Singapore...
