December 14, 200718 yr Hello, Has anyone that has done a visa exemption border run (free 30 days) in the past couple months (Nov Dec 07) had a request or heard of anyone that was asked for an onward travel document like at the Cambodian borders? I have not heard that this is the case, but was cautioned by someone that said, "the days of 30 day visa runners are over". I do not have a onward travel ticket, but was wondering if I should either buy one or make one up before I cross into Burma and have to sneak back into Thailand. Thanks, Ray
December 14, 200718 yr I did 30 day visa runs to Myanmar, Kaw Thaung via Ranong 3 times in a row. The most recent was Nov. 6 crossing and back same day. I was not asked about onward travel at any of those 3 times Sept. to Nov. 2007. I hope things there have not changed. Good luck.
December 14, 200718 yr A friend of mine did it three weeks ago, went with a minibus and just crossed and returned immediately, no trouble and no onward travel proof required. I'm planning to do it at the end of December, let us know how it turns out!
December 14, 200718 yr Myanmar has different classes of visa if you're just crossing over the border and back or planning to travel farther into the interior. With this kind of scheme, it would be difficult to require proof of onward travel from the lowly 30 day runner whose days are numbered.
December 15, 200718 yr Author Thanks for the recent updates, i'll be doing a run within a week or so and i'll let you know when (if) I get back. Only prob is I don't believe there is much internet on the island i'm going to.
