I presume you never learned much English, Dieter? I find it hard to believe you've never seen "Welcome to the Land of Smiles" written somewhere in English. I just LOVED the way my tongue-in-cheek translation of LOS was received!

Lots of people think Thais are lazy and the same for stupid, so my comment via Lazy or Stupid was, I think, reasonably to-the-point. The number of snarls it garnered told me volumes about how "serious" certain people are.
