Whenever he's here in the states he always spends time with his pal President at the ranch in Crawford Texas.

"Birds of a feather..." :o

Does he really? Even after the coup? That surprises me a little as that would be undiplomatic.

Pepe, that is nonsense. Please provide dates when Thaksin has been at the ranch in Crawford, Texas.

If anyone is looking for a summary of Toxin's sins, see this article Thaksin Shinawatra, shooting to win from the Times Online.

Apparently, in Manchester they call him Frank because his surname sounds like Sinatra. :D

Great article.

As for comparing him to Frank, he's sooo flattered. Unfortunately, one was a legend, he's a lemon.

He greatly exaggerated his friendship with Bush, even saying he was a "Texas cowboy", prolly get his arse kicked within minutes if here were to walk into a bar and tried to pull that sh!t with the locals.

Just like he greatly exaggerated wearing out two orange bracelets.

Just like he greatly exaggerated simple ordinary accidents into assassination attempts.

The man made his way through life with exaggerations and lies, period.

If anyone can ever find footage of Thaksin and Bush at the Summit in Peru, once the official picture was taken, Bush spun on his heels clearly escaping from "schoolgirl meets rock star" Thaksin. ;lol:

I recall Thaksin sent Bush a weepy letter after he went walkies, and Bush ignored it. Occasionally, Bush surprises and does intelligent things.

:D:o

No, he must have an advisor with his whole head inserted in the black hole who helped him out with this one

Will he be all teary eyed returning. See photo of Bangkok Post apr. 5,2006 after his "I'm calling it quits" speech.

If he makes it off the plane when it lands. Remember Beigno Aquino returning to manila rom exile in aug 1983. Maybe history will repeat itself.

ok, the old Junta always said, Thailand has its own brand of democracy, but TRT won hugely the first tim, just as huge the second time, Taksin called for new elections early and won, then the coup, 15 months if idiotic management, and then TRT won again (ok, dif name), Thai's want TRT by majority, that is democracy in my book, and all allegations have not been close to proven but the land acquisition by Khuying Pojaman was kinda dumb and blatant

Whoa! Easy fella.

I remember hearing this on the news. I will try to google it but I'm off to Christmas dinner soon.

Thanks for keeping me on my toes... :D

I hope he comes back and someone shoots the bastard.

LOL that would be the final judgement day on him for sure-

Thankfully, unless you want to revert back to 1947 or so, Thailand has not resorted to shooting their leader to resolve political differences :o

Buddies? I don't think so. Bush probably thinks he is from Taiwan

Well Thai's wanting TRT doesn't mean that Thaksin and his kin don't have to answer to their charges in court. The PPP would like everybody to think they shouldn't have to but if Thailand wants to be taken seriously justice has to be served.

Hobbs, you're a new member here, though maybe you've been in Thailand for a long time. To clarify within board rules, Thaksin stated that if he was asked to resign by the one person who could do so, he, Thaksin, would resign. The evidence is strongly suggestive that such a conversation took place, but, as is his way, Thaksin u-turned.

Regards

and I somehow don't think having 95% of family assets confiscated was part of the deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kick a man in the balls and screams, take a man's wallet and he'll turn into a raving mad dog........ i think that's what we have!

By all rights, he's still Prime Minister. Of course :D he should come back!

By all rights, he should be in JAIL, yes?

With pretty much all of Thailand's politicians, you mean? :o

Your pal Toxin ( or is it Taxin ? ) should be first in and last out.

Democracy :o Three times Toxin and/or his friends bought the votes. Hardly democracy !

If he really loved the country he would not come back. It is going to be so divisive and disruptive for the Nation. It is just so sad, the poor people of Thailand deserve so much more. I so wish the Abram Lincoln, Nelson Mandela or Gandhi of Thailand would step forward and lead it down the path it so richly deserves.

He had so many chances to save himself, but his ego is so large that he just refuses to compromise on any issue. He just goes too far with everything, never contemplated the consequences of his action. Just so heartbreaking!

Well, you may get the opposite - this from the man himself:

Perhaps Thaksin said what he really intends when he responded thus to a question, "I am quitting politics, I am not going back to politics. I will not take any political position except when they want any ideas," adding significantly, "I have no wish to go back to politics until I feel safe, and then I will have to assess the situation."

Note:

-UNTIL I FEEL SAFE (i.e. protected by a house majority and paid off judges as per previous)

- AND THEN.... (maybe I'll come back, and make all the Isaan maids, farmers and rabble who i buy off using mostly govt money happy once more)

Oh joy that is the power of the PPP.

To call this or any other election in THailand fair and clean is a joke. Thailand's biggest mistake was becoming a democracy too soon; that's what led to all the dictator/inept govt cycles over the last few years - in some ways TRT was a necessary evil and it will be a few more years until it runs its cycle after which just maybe the rural poor will realise that thjey don't need to choose dimwits and perhaps someone decent will stand for election.

But it could be a while yet. Imagine if we had a LKY type guy.....where we would be now!

what's the alternative?

let's compare with South-Africa;

the lefties removed apartheid and replaced it with anarchy, violence, rape, gangs, high murders, AIDS, collapsing economy etc.

is that better?

there's a difference between the theory and reality.

Thaksin is corrupt etc, all true ... but what's the alternative?

Sorry but comparing it with South Africa is way out of line ,

a very different country with different problems .....

People like Abhisit and Apirak. And I know many more Thais like them. Decent people with good ideas and an education. They would never ever want to go in politics though. Even though they hate the current system.

There is hope for Thailand in the future. I can see the younger generations being different from their parents. With different ideas et all. But the change will not be for another 10-20 years or so. Abhisit and Apirak's generation are to small to make a change. The ones coming after then though are larger and will slowly get rid of the dinosaurs.

I'm not a Politic Expert but what can I say is that I'm for Thaksin.

Just the fact the many people are able to live by being part of OTOP is a major things for poor people around Thailand.

Also, many are saying that PPP bought votes!

I can tell You that not only them!

Saw the way it goes in Sisaket and sure at 100% that it was the same everywhere in North and North East!

By the way I see people talking here is like all people from North and North east are not conscious and go for the one who's giving more money to buy their votes.

That's really not the way it's working.

People in villages are conscious about those who wanna buy their votes and they all talk about it between them.

A Democratic party supported by some people that did absolutely nothing during 15 months!

You think people wanna vote for this!

In Bangkok, many voted for Democrat party.

I'm curious to see the percentage of Thais that vote for and the percentage of Indians, Chinese and other Nationalities that got the right to vote.

Really curious about that!

Anyways, it's just my opinion!

Opinion in politics never end!

I know a lot of Thais in Bkk and they all voted for the PPP!

And they're all well educated and University graduated.

Well if he does back at least the Bangkok traffic jams will be solved within 6 months. The insurgent problems down south will be solved this time by dumping another load of paper planes upon them as last time they were apparently the wrong colour and he will probably camp out on the airport rail link to hurry that along. Poverty in the north will be solved by Dr Thaksin in a flash and we can look forward to the daily stunts on Television, cooking , cuddling small children, healing the sick,he might even get his kids to work at KFC to show the masses that you can get ahead by working hard....Cant wait.
