paulfr
Another fellow was found dead at the Dyansty Grande two days ago. I believe he was a 40 yr old Aussie. Seems to me that there have been at least three dead at this place now in just two years. Anyone can confirm this or have any other information ? NanLaew
I never heard owt about the earlier 2 but if you say so. Maybe it's just a tad too far from NP for your average +40 something sexpat, chock full of Viagra and Chang who thinks he's the next Ron Jeremy as he races back to the DG with his nth ST of the day. Seems to me that there have been at least three dead at this place now in just two years. Anyone can confirm this or have any other information ? Has it been open 2 years? I thought it opened around December 2006. I know there was a soft partial opening about 6 months before that, but its only been fully open a year or so right? Or am I thinking of a different hotel. The Dynasty Grande I've stayed at was on the cross Soi between Sukhumvit 4 and 6 and near the new Sofitel. (And not far from the infamous Crown) BTW, huge rooms, 3 star decor. I think good value at 2250 a night. Room service food was very greasy
PadThaiGuy
I stayed there in April 2006 and it was brand new. My buddy was there over the holidays and saw the police removing some items. He said sombody had died.
Theyreallrubbish
Just saw they've raised their rates for the good rooms at the front to 2880 a night. Not so sure its good value now.

paulfr
We are sure getting the lowdown on the hotel. Now, does anybody know if someone died or not? Oh there is no doubt that someone died there on Monday. It was a groom to be next month of a good friend of my wife. She [the friend] is distraught and the family have flown in to take care of things. The only question is how a healthy successful businessman dies alone and unexpectedly at the age of 40. [Please keep the speculations to yourself, thank you] It could be just a heart attack and someone with unlucky genes. Or maybe not. We will have to wait and see what the hospital says. There was a similar incident in Pattaya a while ago. Seemingly healthy low 40's man dies after a game of squash, which he played a lot. Very sad but it does happen. Maybe the Internet exposes it more. My condolences to your wife's friend and their families. Edited December 27, 2007 by hiromj
micksterbs
I don't know the figures but three dead in two years is probably par for the course for a large hotel. You've only noticed as they were farangs. I mean, several thousand people stay there each year; a few are bound to cash-in their chips.

Like Dynasty Grande soi xx BKK. Not everybody is aware of every hotel in any Thailand's city.

It was good value for the past year or so and it used to fit well with me but I think there are better alternatives.

Yes Homer but in the case of the Dynasty Grande, as with most Bangkok hotels the increase is PERMANENT and not just a temporary one for the tourist season. not5150
It's a permanent increase... for all seasons. I stayed there last month and liked it. However, the price is getting a bit high for my blood - especially on longer stays.
