Computer Tech Who Makes Housecalls

Recommended Posts

I have an older friend based in the lower Sukhumvit area who is driving me crazy with computer problems. Most are minor, or even none-existent, as my friend is barely computer proficient.

Anyone here know a patient trouble-shooter who makes housecalls and speaks English well? My friend is quite willing and capable to pay for help, and it would be a real burden off my shoulders.

hi'

hey guys ... no one thought to open a hotline for this purpose?

well, I'm back in old france now, and begin to work again ... I'm going to open one :o

it's not a lot of work, and can bring some more cash in :D

francois

troubleshooting over the phone is a frustrating experience...a webcam with a long lead can allow you to see if they are following your instructions...

but if it is just software..using remote desktop via netmeeting can make things easier

:D

You can call a company called Fix-IT if you are in Bangkok - Tel 02 6637411 or 2.

For a mere 600 Baht / year / per computer, they shall come to your place and service all your tech needs.

This is not an advertisement, I am just a satisfied customer. :o

But how much would he be paying, that's the real question ?

The problem is when you start charging more than 200 bt to those farangs, they start to go crazy :o

House calls for those kind of "customers" is at least 1000 bt per hour. Of course paying 1,000 bt to help you with a router or connecting the mouse cord to your PC is bloody expensive and you can bet they won't go for it.

That's why there is no market for these "customers". Too much trouble, high "emotional" maintenance, and little pay.

Why don't they call Microsoft support ? :D

The idea of having "Thai" students coming to my home to fix my PC with their bootleg CD full of virus, is not really reassuring. You are not going to get any serious or reliable service at that price. Might get lucky with a few good techs though.

  • 1 month later...

My home PC went down on Monday and I don't have time to mess with PCs these days.

I called Fix-IT and they came round the next day, sussed out the problem (CPU dead) and got me a replacement free of charge from the shop I bought it from (even though I lost my receipt!)

Was very impressed and now have a working home PC again... all for 500thb service charge

If I had gone to the shop at fortune I'm sure they would not have replaced it without a receipt

So Fix-IT have a big thumbs up from me!
