Hi

I am looking for some advice on visiting Disney Land in Hong Kong.

Could anyone recommend a good travel agent in Thailand. web site / package in for trips to Disney Land.

I was thinking to spend 4 full days in Disney Land. Is that enough time?

I am really looking to do this on the cheap my budget is $2000 US for the 3 of us, but would prefer to spend less. Can it be done fairly comfortably on this budget?

Is it better to buy a package in Thailand, or make an online booking for hotel, disneyland?

Any experiences please.

Thanks

Disney Land in HK is quite small and in my opinion 4 days is too long. The biggest expense (after air fare) will be the hotel, rides are free. If you do spend 4 days you'll most probably venture off into downtown HK, which then starts to add to the cost.

The resort is close to the airport - so easy to just arrive and get a taxi, personally I would book online. It is well worth the visit but don't expect too much or you may be disappointed.

Also be aware that Chinese New Year is at the beginning of Feb - you could be queuing all day for rides etc. at this time.

You might check with some local travel agencies too, they usually have a selection both package tours and budget airfare for Hong Kong.

Also you might consider to stay in the center of Hong Kong, you can easily take the subway directly to the gate of Disney Land.

Yes 4 days is way too long. If the kids are older than 10 then they would be pushed to enjoy 1 full day.

I know Jetstar fly from Singapore to HK but not sure about Bkk.

The Disney hotel is wonderful as you can have breakfast with the characters (have to book first). However it is 5 star and thus expenisive but if you could stay just one night I'd recommend it.

If you have older (taller) children you should visit Ocean Park which has far better (scarier) rides, plus its nice to see the pandas.

Also take a note of the weather. We arrived over New Year to just 12 degrees dropping to 8 overnight. What a shock for us in our sandals and summer clothes!

Ditto on:

4 Days at Disneyland is too much. Kids would probably enjoy a second day but you might not. (I took the wife last Dec and had a good time).

Go see Ocean Park. Good rides, dolphin shows etc, great place.

The MRT system is so good that where you stay is not important but finding cheap hotels is tough.

I'm assuming the wife is Thai so might enjoy seeing the world's largest seated Buddha. It's also on Lantau Island same as the airport and Disneyland. you get to take a long ariel gondola ride to get there and there's a tourist village with a couple of shows restaurants etc.

I like Hong Kong. Other than Disneyland there's tons to see and do.

Here's what I'd do:

Book cheapo flight on Air Asia to MACAU. Just in Macau you can easily spend a couple days looking around.

Then from Macau you take the ferry to Hong Kong. How much do you want to spend on a hotel? Don't go during Chinese New Year obviously, but I think for mid range accommodation there's some very good and good value hotels around.

Then you have a day doing Disneyland, a day doing Lantau Island with the Big Buddha (the island is VERY nice, lots of hills & forest), then a day (or more :o ) shopping.. There's some fun nightlife as well.

I also disagree that spending time in Hong Kong is expensive; food is very reasonable, the subway goes everywhere and is cheap, ferries and the old trams are cheaper than Thailand.. heck, just tramming up and down Hong Kong island and visiting markets you easily spend the better part of a day.

Have fun!

How does 3100 baht / night for a very nice 4 star hotel on Hong Kong Island sound? Tram passes in front, Subway across the street.. Many rooms with view of the harbour if you're lucky to get a slight upgrade..

I just can't find that expensive; for sure there's less fancy / well appointed hotels around Bangkok that actually cost more. Thailand is really getting expensive in the mid and upper range compared to other main cities in the region like KL and even HK.

That amount of money gets you something only in Kennedy Town, I guess. Those in Central and Wanchai area are much more expensive. And most probably no swimming pool. But it is winter so no problem.

HK hotels no comparison with thai ones.

I payed 2,500 B a night at the Royal Pacific Hotel in Kowloon last week, good hotel, great facilities and good location.

I was going to do Disneyland but it was just too cold

Get any travel agent from BKK Post. They offer same packages.

For 3 of us, flying Emirates and staying at Disneyland Hollywood hotel 1 night + 2 nights at Dorsett (Koowlon, not a great hotel and area) it was 55K baht.

That included departure tax and Disneyland 2 days pass. It was Chinese Golden Week back in May, queuing 15-40 mins at both Disneyland and Ocean Park.

Ocean Park is great.

That same package with Thai Airways was 12K baht more (and departure 7:30am).

Edit: there was a thread about it 6. October 2007, some pictures too:
