Regarding the B 800,000 bank deposit to obtain the 1-year retirement extensions, can this deposit be in a foreign currency account at a Thai bank? Several Thai banks offer foreign currency accounts...could one deposit the equivalent of B 800,000 in one of the currencies offered for these accounts and use this to qualify for the visa?

If one was concerned about possible depreciation of the baht (I know, hard to think it would happen now but that's when these things do happen...) and wanted to deposit money in another hard currency this would be a nice option if these type account also qualified.

I'm sure Lopburi can answer this, but as the rules say "800,000 baht in a Thai bank account" I am doubtful if it qualifies, not being in Baht....
