Finnish man beaten up after damaging Pattaya bars' properties

PATTAYA: -- A Finnish man was beaten up by six or seven Thai men after the tourist, who appeared drunk, destroyed properties of some bars early Sunday.

Police said Numela Matti Juhani, 54, was hit by the Thai men until he became unconscious. The attack happened at about 3 am

The Finnish tourist suffered a severe cut on his head apart from bruises all over his body.

Witnesses told police that the man damaged some tables and chairs in a bar where he was drinking and paid for the damages and left.

While he was walking through Soi Pattaya 8, he also damaged more properties of other bars until he was attacked.

Police are hunting for the Thai men.

Oh yeah, I'm sure they're really after the culprits... :o

Here we go again. This thread should get interesting.

It's hard to defend any of these guys because you witness so much insanity here

it's easy to believe any version of a story that you're presented with. Can we say

that it's slightly socially irresponsible to urge tourists to drink as much as possible

in order to loosen their purse-strings and then insult or assault them when their

behavior is no longer deemed appropriate? When you begin seeing the game for

what it is, you start thinking maybe the bar-owners aren't all blameless in this.

another northern european gets hurt - one day on a moytorbike, the next bashed for destroying property.

If they were in their home country, they woud get the same deal. if drunk and stupid, what can they expect - don't blame the Thai people.

som nom na

why the <deleted> was he damaging property for no reason...ok he was drunk but he shouldnt have done that............ but thais always go over the top when things like this happen. funny the bit about police lookin for culprits...yeh right

Scandi(s) are the worst drunks full stop. I'm not saying he deserved a beating, but they get quite violent when they drink too much.

You should see Australian drunks.

It's really an individual thing. Some people become very aggressive when drunk and it's not related to country of origin.

If he had been wearing a t-shirt that said, "PLEASE DON'T BEAT THE SH*T OUT OF ME, I'M IN A BLACKOUT!", maybe this wouldn't have happened.

Pattaya (especially soi 8) attracts the scum of the earth (along with some normal people just out for some fun) so it really doesn't bother me when one of the scum gets pissed...starts randomly attacking people or destroying property...and gets set upon by some of the local toughs. Maybe he will think first next time, or on his next holiday, take his sorry arse somewhere else!

Berserkers were out of their skulls when they went in to fight - but it takes a certain type of guy to get like this. I've worked with Scandinavians most of my adult life and learnt to tell the berserkers from the rest. (They were still standing when the others had fallen over :o).

And anyway - how can you drink too much? If you can bring glass to mouth, then there's still room for a wee dram.

Everyone deserves a slap at some time or another, but a cowardly mob handed beating has become the trademark of the cowardly Thai man.

If whats printed here is true then i have no sympathay, we see too many of these tw@ts that cant handle their booze and want to fight the world, and its things like this that get us all a bad name, strange that he paid for some damage then went on to do more, perhaps he thought,i have more money than i thought, il do some more ! :o

I think a t shirt with " Instant @sshole . just add alcohol " would be more appropriate :o
