Hi there

I hope someone will be able to answer my question.

I'm on my first year extention to a non immigrant 'o' visa.

When i apply for the second year extention do i need to get a new from my (british) embassy proving my income again or is the first year's form still valid.

Thank's in advance for your answer's.

Suan Plu likes to see the letter dated within about 3 days of the application. The embassy letter takes 24 hours, and don't forget to allow for public holidays. From March you can make an initial application over the web and make an appointment, which is supposed to speed things up.

Wow ... 3 days. Here in Phuket they accept bank letter if not more than 1 month old, but then again I have to show original bank book with recent update within last few days... :o

I have never heard of any such "request" by Suan Phlu myself and it does not seem logical. Pay rate is not likely to change over a week or month - much less three days. Did Suan Phlu officer actually say the letter must be within 3 days? Are you sure that is not the Bank letter that they like to see within 3 days?

I've been using the letter issued by my Embassy in 2000 for the last 7 applications (last time June 2007). I always take the original but only leave them with a copy or copies.

But none of the extensions have been applied for at Suan Phlu; only at the local office here (Kab Cheong).

Hi there

Thank's for the replie's so far.

It seem's the situation is not clear cut as Yorkie say's he has used the same letter while others have not.

I think my next step will be to get the wife to ring immigration (chiang mai) and see what they say.

cheer's all..

A year ago (but not this year) I was told by an I/O that I must have both bank letter and embassy letter dated within 3 days (of course that may just be one I/O being difficult. And it was made clear that Suan Plu wants a new Embassy letter every year. I usually spend 2 days getting the paperwork together, and then go to Immigration on day three.

Strange - they always keep my original embassy letter.
