Is the reporting of 90 days also valid when you own a one year visa non-B?

i hear from all people around me , they need to go out of the country every 3 months even if they have a multy entry non-B valid for a year.

I'll get one soon and i'd like to avoid the visa run and risk my life on the roads.

I just spoke with Thai Immigration (Bangkok) and those of us who are here on a Non-Imm one year visa because of MARRIAGE TO A THAI do not have to report every 90 days unless they actually do have a new address and it that case they should do it when they get the new address.

If your source is saying 90 day reports are not required of those on one year extensions of stay please ask for a confirmation source as there are many people who would welcome such information, if it were true.

I received my 1 yr extension of stay on a non-O visa based on a Thai wife in Bangkok. I was advised to do the TM47 at 90 days and a reminder of the due date was stapled into my passport.

I'm not sure about overland border crossings, but they probably don't check it there either. They may start enforcing it whenever, but it's been smooth sailing so far.

Am I correct when I say that one can report 7 days before or 7 days after the due date?

I was informed last time i did my 90 day report and i was 1 day late he said he would let it slide. I said thanks but that i would have come in on sunday but they were closed ( as i smiled) he returned my smile and said come in 2-3 days before no problem but 1 day late 2,000 baht fine.

No idea what will happen if u just go to the airport and try to leave and don't have the recent 90 day report in ur passport. (maybe they look, maybe they don't)

Also the last time i reported ( 2 weeks ago) rather than just stamp the previous form he had to make up a new 90 day form. When i asked why he said new rule.

I've got a work permit and have been here on this non-im B visa since last May. I've never reported and my work never told me to. Do I have a problem?

They do not want you to report by mail if you live in Bangkok, so that rules out a lot of us. The forms are computer fill - I suspect they would accept them filled in by pen, as you would do at the office if you got the form there.

Lopburi3, I am a little confused by this. I am in Bangkok and I reported by mail two months ago. All very smooth: a couple of weeks later they returned my photocopies, with the receipt, and a new blank form for next time. Next time is the end of the month, and I was planning to send the same lot off by registered post again.

Has something changed?

WRONG! Absolute crap! After almost 30 years of coming in and out by air (mostly) a hundred or more times, last October exiting at Suvarnaphumi I was hauled aside and asked why I hadn't done 90-day reporting. I didn't know what they were talking about, I told them. They said it's been a law for ages, but they let me go with a warning to make sure to do it next time.

I have now educated myself about the whole thing, thanks especially to thaivisa.com, and WILL make sure. I advise everybody else on a one-year visa to do so too.

I always report by post [over 4 years], the last 3 times the ‘new’ Form along with the Info page has been different….

“Important: Your documents can NOT be processed if you have past the 90 day limit.

YOU MUST come to the nearest Immigration Office or room 206 Immigration Bueau in PERSON to pay Fine 2,000 BAHT.”

The 7 day window still exists in Chiang Mai - I made use of it last week having not paid attention to the fact that my reporting date of 27 January was a Sunday! I was told not to worry as long as the visit is made within 7 days of the deadline date.

Also, for what it's worth the notice stamped on the receipt of notification that is pinned in my passport says that this B2,000 fine that is being discussed here is actually "a fine not exceeding 5,000.-Baht and with an additional fine not exceeding 200.-Baht for each day . . . ".

last year i went to report ( for the 4th time & extension visa) 3 days afther the date they had pinned into my passport, but 5 days before my visa expired, and i didn't have any problems or had to pay a fine......

when you go to the official immigration website it clearly states: the notification must be made within 7 days before or afther the period of 90 days expires.......,that is why you can also report by post..... are these rules this year changed? and is the official website wrong ?

I too have a retirement Visa....before I had a work permit and a 1 yr. Visa but when I got my retirement Visa,I specifically asked did I have to report in until my next application fling a month before my visa expired and was told " NO!" Yet, I hear these posts and I asked a friend who helped out at immigration and he's going to ask someone in the know ,quietly LOL......I was told only if my addressed changed or if I left the country,on return to check back in at my local Immigration office.

The persons complaining that its a archaic rule must be a newbie, it was a rule made only a few years back in 2002 ,to keep tabs on 1 year visa holders,as a means of catching terrorists who had entered with a one year visa, this system was used for that reason .

I got a 2000 baht fine and passport stamp a long time ago - after I'd missed my very first 90 day report. I never missed again and there were no repercussions that I could detect for having the stamp in my passport.

I've got a new passport now and that stamp was not carried over to the new one.

1. If you ask Bangkok they will say those living in the city should not use the mail in option. I have checked this for several years and from several locations. That does not mean they will not do it - only that they would prefer not to do so and could send it back at some point.

2. This 90 day reporting is not a new regulation - it is in the basic immigration law. What is new is the enforcement - which only dates back a few years. Some other laws, enacted at the same time, are not actively enforced.

Did you by any chance have that paper still pinned at your passport when you were exiting? By the way now they have changed it a larger paper that is never pinned, makes you wonder if they don't even want you to do it then.. I of course always removed the attached paper when i stayed over 200 days few times before... never had a single problem.. Then I decided to go 'legal' so guess I'm more hooked to the system now. Still the desks 9 and 5 are not connected at Bangkok Imm. so at border points I wouldn't really worry about it. Who knows when things might chance though. There is a law that requires you to report change of address in 24 hours also..

I have a 1-year multiple entry type O for supporting my Thai family. I needed to stay past my 90 day visit so several weeks before I was expected to exit I went to Pattaya Immigration office and received a 60 extension. I didn't even think about the 90 day reporting. I kinda of assumed (wrongfully probably) that when I applied for the extension that they would have updated my info in the system. I have had the same address on all my paperwork for the past several years now.

At this point, I have been here 4 months or so and expect to leave the end of the month (2 weeks before I am required to exit). Am I going to have problems at the airport when I leave? Should I be heading down to Pattaya Immigration to pay the 2000thb? As this is the first time in the last several years that I have been in country for over 90 days continuously I just don;t have any experience here.

Am not sure why you obtained a 60 day extension rather than just make a border run but "first" extension of stay counts as your first 90 day report when making the normal one year extension of stay so you could say you believe it to be the case of this (and it may well be the case). Normally there has been no check on exit in any case and when you enter again it will start the 90 day clock again.

I've missed by 90 days about 4 times and have them all stamped with the warning, and nobody seems to take much notice of this. I have also hear that it you can leave the country anywhere and they do not have a record of your 90 days so they will not find out. The 90 day reporting is not a visa issue, it is a reporting address issue.

Lite Beer, I'm living on an extension. They gave me one year non-immigrant visa with the stamp "sarmee thai" and extend every year for me. I don't do border run and in fact I don't understand what border run is . I'm trying to read more posts to catch whether I miss anything. We still live at the same place as when we registered. I'm an ASEAN citizen.

Up to now it has been handled as a separate branch in most Immigration offices and that is why people are often not being told about it (it is clearly written out on your entry/departure card that everyone gets so you are expected to know). I am not sure how much longer this will remain a hit and miss affair as have seen them enter this information into computer data base so at some point I expect that it may be more closely checked.

The answer to your question is simple. I only needed 60 days and why would I want to waste a full day doing a border run when I can walk in and out of immigration in 30 min and even save a few hundred baht. For those of you that like making a "run for the border" I say, have fun. I personally find it easier to just get the extension for the tim I need and then leave the country as planned. Aslo, according to your statement, I have the added bonus of making my first 90 day report so I actually killed 2 birds with one stone.

I will report back if I do encounter and problems leaving the country the end of Feb to head back home for a few months.
