I obtained my non-immigrant "O" from kl and I am now 30 days into the 90 days given. I need to apply for the marriage extension.

Is there another forum thread that goes over all the details and requirements for the extension that is up to date?

This is the forum. You apply when you have less than 30 days remaining. You will have to have family income of 40k per month as proven by tax statements if from Thailand or Embassy letter if from US. You and will will have to appear together and you should check with Phuket as to there specific requirements. They will always include passport/copies, arrival card/copy, Thai ID card/copy, Thai home register/copy, birth certificate if any children, current 4x6cm photo of yourself for the TM.7 form and 1,900 baht fee. Other likely/possible requirements are photos together at home, to include home number; map to home; bank passbook/letter of account balance. Currently there seems to be a push for non-color copies so if you scan/print use gray scale.

THanks for the quick reply.

For the proof of income:

Can this be done on the u.s. embassy outreach program when they come to phuket?

What paperwork is necessary for this? Taxes for how many years back?

What about just using bank U.S. bank statements to show average income?

What about Thai bank statements showing 40k monthly income from abroad?

Is this "my" income of the total income of me and my wife?

Thanks..

There is a paper that you fill in the income amount (and believe they will have that on visits) and then swear that it is true and have it notarized. In the event Immigration should ask for further proof it might be in seeing an inflow to a Thai bank account. The income can be total of both.

What is the thai word for "notarized?" Can notarization be done on the save visit to immigration or does that need to be done outside?

So I don't need anything from my embassy if I can show the money coming into thailand from abroad?

The money I transfer in from abroad is not taxed here so I assume bank statements will do for proving that.

Sometimes I transfer funds directly into the wifes account; and this amount is not claimed on her business taxes. Should it be?

Thanks again for the quick answers. Clicking on more ads now..

You require the Embassy letter that is notarized under oath by an Embassy officer. You may also need other proof, such as incoming funds.

Any money transferred into Thailand in the year earned should/would be subject to Thai tax payment.

My wife has the 40,000 baht per month income/tax records to satisfy that minimum income level however I was wondering if they would be skeptical of my application if I didn't have any evence of income from my embassy. I'd like not to have to make the trip to bkk to get that paperwork if my wifes income can satisfy the requirements. Do you have any additional ideas or recommendations in light of this?

Thanks again... clicking on some property ads now... :o

Give it a go. If your wife has the income it should fly.

As said by Lop,it should be enough. If you do it,please tell.Last year I had some problems, based not on the law,but on the cultural bias of the Imm. Officer.

Happy to say last month was easier! :o
