0Mix1up Posted January 31, 2008 Share Posted January 31, 2008 Saw a new item on SBS Australia last night (can't find a link, sorry) Describing the Thai authorities treating the Burmese Kayan people (neck ring) like a human zoo By charging tourist to see them in refugee camps in the NE They spoke to 1 girl who had removed her rings in protest (she spoke fairly good engish) and she said that some who were to be repatriated to other countries were not allowed to leave. They did their own gorking/touristing, close ups of where the rings sit on the shoulders, talking to a tourist, showing footage of young girls carrying on the custom. Anyone been recently?
