I have just had my wife call TOT Crapstar to tell them to come and get their bird bath. The service has been absolutely pathetic and I refuse to pay for such shit service. I live a nice calm peaceful life out here in the boonies and every day my blood pressure goes up because of this disgrace. There is absolutely no excuse for such poor service. I am now using my phone and GPRS. It too is pathetic but BETTER than Crapstar and cheaper.

Her phone call to TOT Crapstar was typical of their service. They asked no questions, made no suggestions and told her that we had to drive 30 kilometers to sign an authorization to stop the service. It was odd that we had to sign nothing to upgrade the speed but when I couldn't tell the difference we had to go there and sign to downgrade to where it was before. My wife is going to make the trip but if it were up to me, I'd just email, call, record the date, time and who I spoke to, then quit paying the bill. The biggest problem is they simply DON'T care.

None of them care at the moment and that's why all ISPs are crap. If only ONE ISP would provide a decent service, they'd get all the customers. But they all know that the infrastructure is crap, so there's no point in them trying to be better than anyone else. Just continue to sell the fraudulent service like everyone else does.

P.S. Maxnet is great for picking up emails. At 4:30 am.

Seems like only yesterday you were telling everyone how good it is and what a good deal it is being half the price of CSLoxinfo IPStar. How times they are a changing.

I'm happy to report that my CSLoxinfo IPStar works up to speed 98% of the time, the help line is now very good and if they identify an equipment problem they come and fix it within two days. The price is of course double the TOT tot though.

I had CS Loxinfo IPstar fitted a few weeks ago, the speed was what I was paying for, the 256 kbps service, plus for 500 Baht extra per month I got UBC platinum package thrown in.

2000 Baht total monthly.

I just done a speedtest and got 3467 Kbps !!!!

Then again I'm in Tokyo at the moment, wish I got this speed in Thailand! :o

Yes, you're absolutely right. I was very happy to have much better service at a much better price. I think what happens is that the better service gets overloaded and a lot of people cancel. With a smaller customer base the service improves. TOT is now overloaded but will probably improve when they lose half their customers and then CSLoxinfo will be overloaded. :o A friend of mine called from Ao Nang, Krabi today complaining how bad his CSLoxinfo Shitstar was. I told him that I was having TOT Crapstar taken out and he told me that was a great idea and that he was going to get rid of his too. He's luckier than I am. He at least has a land line.

Amen to that brother, its nearly impossible to use the shitty service they provide. If we were in any other country tot would be sued and or shut down by the better business bureau. I'm fed up too, im switching to tt&t although I hear its hardly better. <deleted> TOT up its stupid ass.

I’m afraid this situation is just normal , if you look at the continuous

Daily postings from people who are so fed up with the poor quality

of the internet service , we have to remember here in Thailand

what you pay for and have been promised means absolutely nothing

Customer service is as bad as it could get , guarantees and assurances are

Just words to fob you off, pay your money and then they couldn't care less

and don't forget this is Thailand ...The B/S Hub of Asia

"and don't forget this is Thailand" tired to hear such crap (no offense man it's not aimed at you personally)...

Just that I think Thailand is not anymore a sub standard country. At least that's what the leaders here say.

So I would like to see things going for the best: and if they don't then let's help, and it's not by saying 'it'sThailand' that things are going to change anysoon.

I wish every Thai customer to open his/her mouth to voice their discontent to Thailand's ISPs.

Me too...

I'm sick of complaining to True (unt) about the internet service.

Yes, In most respects Thailand is not sub standard but corruption is still rife and must be involved in the set up of the appalling internet service. Someone is being allowed to sell product which just doesn't work. Everybody knows it, so why isn't anyone being pulled up about it...?

The fact that True kept on selling broadband knowing that they had reached a limit, and nothing is said or done is surely blatant corruption! They are still taking money from people, which is blatant robbery.

I keep on reading reports about Thailand and the high hopes for information technology blah blah...

Internet in Thailand service is a WWW joke. Should be re named TWW, as it's useless most nights if you want to access international sites.

Is someone somewhere scared that Thais might actually be getting worldwide information from the technology?

(The last lot in power certainly made it clear that they were scared of the power that the internet had)....

Whatever the excuses about CAT, broken lines etc - True corporation should NOT be overselling a service which didn't even work properly in the first place!

Sounds like a good deal so I just tried to look it up on CsLoxinfo's website. Great!!!!!! The link to the English language page doesn't work. :o

Crapstar has been very bad indeed the last months, POT (Plain Old Telephone) I had two years ago in Udon city was faster.

Unfortunately dear TOT told me it would take an other century before a telephone line would be availbale in my boondock village.

A few days ago this farang living on the other side of the village (who stole a telephone line from his neighbours) found out TOT put a box on the fiberoptic cable running through the village highway to Sakhon Nowhere allowing him and those who have a telephone line to connect via ADSL.

He booked a connection and informed me I could have a telephone line also, unbelievable isn't :D

So I did, and waiting 10 more days to get connected.

Crapstar at 1600B/month versus CrapADSLTOT at 590+100+VAT? at 1mbps?

Saving 700B/month and regulating my heartbeats?

The future will tell :D

Edit: I was at my son's place in BKK earlier this week and he has TRUE 256/128.

I was surprised at how good it worked versus my Crapstar. A full screen of maillist appearing at once in stead of character by character showing up on my screen....

He had also TOT ADSL installed at his gf's parents house in a small Buriram village with a wireless router allowing severall houses to share the connection at great speeds nearing 1mbps. :o

And you will not believe this: since yesterday the Crapstar speed is decent....

It amazes me that as vast swathes of Africa and China attempt to get on the internet and acknowledge that they will never have a land line, Thailand as it vies for 1st world status continues to offer out of date hardware and pathetic excuses when it could loko less than a couple of hours south and see what needs to be done as per Singapore.

I have used TOT IPStar every day for nearly two years – I usually have it on for 16 hours per day. I’m pleased with it. I live 100km from their Nakhon Sawan office but despite that, I have enjoyed very good service from their engineer and manager, via home visits or phone calls, in the early days when their equipment was found to be faulty. The service quite often goes off-line, but usually only for a minute. I only use the Internet for enjoyment, not for business, so find that acceptable. I use the 256/128 service @B1,605/mth.

That's precisely the problem. Same ISP, same equipment and one works fine and the other is useless. I don't buy all the common excuses. I believe it is the Thai Mai Pen Rai attitude and simple incompetence. If it were a bandwidth problem everyone would have that problem. It's a strange thing that 1024/512 Ipstar is slower than GPRS.

It is incompetence and lack of knowledge. Engineers which even don't know how to all function of that system!

On the other hand the equipment is quite old and NOT up to date to the today's standards.

Cheers.

Maxnet seem to have sorted themselves out over the last couple of days:

But I'm not sure I believe that 2.77 Mbps on my 2.5 mbps link. I only get 2.3 Mbps locally:
