Very nice. Lovely colours and lighting. Spot on exposure.

I presume you shot this "night shot" just as the dusk was setting in?

Sky colour makes it for me.

Good example of the adage that "a part speaks for the whole"

Thanks for nice comment.

Yes, dusk shot just before sunset.

As usual I applied "Velvia effect" hence that sky color. :o

Color is much better in the original photo but somehow uploading it to TV degrades it (wish I could show it in original photo).

BTW it never ceases to amaze me how sharp the image is with 5D even at high ISO.

ISO500 on 5D seems to resolve better than ISO100 with compact P&S.

Vivid colours and wonderful detail,

but for me the perspective distortion spoils it.

The golden tower looks as though it is falling over.

I am not sure either about the overlap of the two buildings.

It looks odd in my eye.

That is what you paid for with the 5D......

Your comparison is like comparing apples and oranges,

not the same thing at all. :D

The 5D certainly does give splendid results, in your hands. :o

Yes, the perspective...

But this would have been a rather boring photo (like a post card) don't you think?

I like the second one even more.

What colour spaces do you use?

I'm not sure of my facts here, but I figure the loss of quality when uploading is attributable to the limitations of RGB as against sRGB or ProPhotRGB which are the colour spaces I work in.

Still quite impressive, but I take your point.

BTW What is the thing on top?

Part of the oriental architecture, or a TV transmitter mast?

The structure is too low for TV transmitter for such a big city like Tokyo (but might function as lightning rod).

It's part of the architecture. Pretty common for pagodas in Japan. :o
