Steroids smuggled from Thailand to Australia

Sydney - A British citizen has been caught trying to smuggle more than 3,000 steroid tablets on a flight from Thailand to Sydney, the Australian media reported on Sunday. The AAP agency, quoting the country's Customs Service, said the 24-year-old man was stopped by customs officers after arriving at Sydney Airport on Saturday. During a search of his baggage, officers allegedly located 3,000 anabolic tablets, 300 Clenbutrol tables, 120 testosterone capsules and two vials of Stanozolol. The importation of performance and image-enhancing drugs into Australia without appropriate permits is prohibited. Sylvester Stallone, trying to earn a little pocket change! :o

There is nothing new about British Criminals going to Australia.

Juice gets a good price at the gyms? Can be very bad on people; seen some that just use it to go over the top. One constant user died of heart attack at 48. Went to school with this guy.

I wonder what will happen to this young man? I didn't know it could do that, defence? Maybe $110K fine will help him and others.

The maximum penalty for the offences is a fine of $110,000 and/or five years in jail.

And in many cases turned out better citizens than those they left behind :D

As this is the first significant bust of the year, I'd anticipate jail time. Gov't knows they can't stop the trade but they need to send a message it's not acceptable. Maybe they should just force the guy to stand at the airport with a sign that says, Hi, I tried to import drugs that cause; testicles to shrivel, impotency, bad acne and disfiguring and painful cancers; and by the way, I have an IQ of 85.

Wonder who tip off the FUZZ?? :o

Kid you seem to have very little appreciation of the Aust legal system.

Given that the case may not get to court within the next 12 months (depending mainly on whether or not he pleads guilty), the timing of the bust will have absolutely no bearing on the penalty.

Secondly, the court will decide on the penalty (and therefore the "message"), not the government.

I was trying to keep it short and was not implying that the CDPP and judiciary were not independent. However, these two bodies are part of the government structure. I should have been more specific and stated the CDPP.
