Rain continues in Thailand's north, northeastern regions

BANGKOK: -- A high pressure weather system from China is still covering Thailand's north and northeastern regions, causing heavy rainfall in some areas in both regions, while high waves are expected in the Gulf of Thailand, the Meteorological Department announced today.

Scattered thundershowers are anticipated in the South while waves in the Gulf from Surat Thani province downwards are expected to be higher than two metres, it said. Small fishing trawlers should take special precautions during the next few days.

The high pressure ridge covering northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea is expected to weaken between February 5-7, causing lesser rainfall in the region while waves in the Gulf would also weaken.

The high pressure will return and cover northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea between February 8-9 and would cause scattered showers in the region, it added.

feels like it's gonna snow, I swear, about that cold. I guess this is mild compared

to what's been going-on in China but wow, it really is extreme e-san.

Yup, the wife has comandeered my fleece jacket, is wearing a wool hat and wool socks, and I have to admit, I have felt sort of nippish myself today. Strange what 2 years in the tropics do to even a dude from Northern norway. And it's like a normal summerday at home...

Well Bangkok is super humid, with lots of cloud and a fair few showers, certainly for this time of year. Lots of moist air being dragged up from the south. Almost like the rainy season!

Normally the cold weather coincides with the dry season so snow is unlikely,

but with the unseasonal rain storm, you might just get lucky.
