OK I have spent 1 and 1/2 hrs trying to get this info I.m sure its here somewhere but I must be looking in the wrong place. I'd like to go down to Penang or Singapore and apply for a 1 yr multiple entry non immigrant O visa. I am married to a Thai with 3 kids (Mine with Thai and Canadian passports). I work offshore 1 month on one off. All my money is in offshore accounts in Jersey and Singapore. I am taking a few months off and staying in Thailand, so I will exceed the 30 day visa on arrival thingy that I usually get. Thats why I want the Multi. I.ve been here for many years and I am under 50. I have proof of my employment in the form of a seamans book with logged trips and ships stamps, and I have several million Thai baht in the offshore accounts. Its a bit confusing with all the changes and I admit I am not up to date with it all! I have has a few multiple entry O visas in the past from Penang.

The money can be in any bank anywhere in the world.

There have been reports from Penang that no bank account was needed.

Always a good idea to take just in case.

OK thanks, I have also heard that they are only issuing single entry 90 day visas, is that true? or can I still get the 1 year multiple entry good fro 90 days each time.

Hi Beammeup,

Mate Iam in a similar position to you. Married to a Thai.Work offshore. 2 months on 1 month back in Thailand. My pay goes into my HSBC Jersy offshore account. For the last 3 years I have recieved a Non imm O visa.No probs.

All I do is transfer the 40K every month into my thai account. When my visa is up for renewal I bring a copy of my Thai bank statement(with 3 months of proof of funds coming in) to the consulate along with all the other info required. Never had a problem mate.

Although i do renew it on my annual hoilday trip back to Sydney Australia. The consulate himself made a comment to me on my last renewal in January that he was suprised he doesnt have more Non-imm O visa's.

Iam always so suprised at the hassle other blokes go through to get their Non-imm O visa's.

I hope that this info helps you out mate.

Also, you could get the single entry non-o and then extend it at immigration in Thailand for one year based on having a Thai wife. You would need to show proof of 40K baht income and some other paperwork. You could extend this each year and not have to get a new visa again.

With his work schedule extensions would likely be a problem. Singapore has offerd a multi entry for the last year with proof of 400k in a bank account somewhere and normal marriage/birth documents, copy of id card. Penang likes to see a Thai bank account but has not made and set rules on amount and recent reports of getting them with no account to accounts with a few tens of thousands. Do not believe any problem there if a Thai account with 2-400k.

Right. Another option is to open a savings account in a Thai bank. Wire in the necessary funds. Then you can convert the Non Imm O visa to Thai spouse 1 year renewable visa.

Be sure you take an original of your marriage certificate. I would miss Penang & go direct to Singapore. You will need 2 days in the hotel. They only accept applications in the morning & they give your passport back the next afternoon. Good Luck.

To extend his Non O for another year he would need 40,000 Baht monthly income, not funds in the bank.

There is no such thing as a Thai Spouse 1 Year Visa.

As Lopburi said, this probably would not suit him anyway as he maybe not in Thailand to renew it every year and he would have to get a re entry permit to do his job.
