Anyone care to share their experience of border run to Singapore ?

I'm on a non O multiple entry visa and have to leave the country soon for a stamp (yeah, sucks)

I don't like to be in a van for a whole daytrip to Cambodia ...

Flying seems the best way, even dough a bit more expensive

Singapore looks nice.

Can I go for a roundtrip the same day ? I do not want to stay overnight, quite useless, just need a stamp.

Should I exchange some baht to US Dollars or can I change Baht in Singapore ?

I guess I have to pay airport tax when leaving BKK airport, but also leaving Singapore ?

Any travel agency or air company you can recommend ?

Any advice is more than welcome, Tnx !

Yes, you can take a morning flight and come back later the same day if you wish. I did that many times when I was on a 'B' visa. You will have time to go into the city and have a look-see if you wish. It is a pretty nice place to visit.

You can just exchange baht to SGD in Singapore airport, before or after immigration is no difference.

No airport taxes paid in cash at either end, all included in ticket price.

As for travel agent, take your pick. I used to use Business Air Center at the Phrom Phong BTS station, but only because they were located there. Can't tell you if they are better or worse than the competition.

You can go with Air Asia in the morning from Bangkok and come back later.

07:05 - 10:30

11:45 - 15:00

return

15:35 - 16:55

20:40 - 22:00

22:50 - 00:10

You come into the budget terminal I think (can't remember who I flew with last time) and the MRT is in the main terminal so you would have to bus it over. You can taxi direct into the city centre for not so much on the meter.

I had to do some shopping for the baby last year and I went out on the early flight and came back on the mid afternoon one. I used the MRT and had some time in town but I would have preferred more to be safe. I would allow more time in town next time but if you have no reason to be there, then an hour or two in town is probably just a brek for something to eat and a stroll around the shops.

From all my experience of prices, I've never had Tiger Airways beat Air Asia though I understand they do land in the regular terminal (please correct me if I am mistaken). That could save up to 30 minutes on the round trip.

Also, doing the morning run makes you very tired. I drove to the airport and was knackered and wished I'd opted for the later flight.

I have searched on both Singapore airport sites and Air Asia and cannot see that there is a 'budget terminal' in Changi. Air Asia must use Changi as the code is SIN. It appears from my searching (and I haven't been for a few years but will be going soon on Air Asia) that there are only 3 terminals at SIN and all are connected by a local inter terminal rail link. The MRT terminates in Terminal 2.

Anyone confirm please :o

EDIT :- I think I have just found that Air Asia use Terminal 1 yes? that being the case getting to the MRT is a simple short rail car trip.

ALL international ailrlines using normal planes use Changi.

SIN now has very recenty 3 interconnected (both internal and external= land and airside) Ts, but nrs 2 and 3 are exclusive SQ and partners. Besides these 3 there is a BUdget terminal, NOT used by AirAsia (yet??), but by Tiger and the odd other. you need to use free shuttlebus to reach/leave it. A-As uses old T1. (at least, it did may '07).

this angry elefant heeder must thus have used TR last time he flew into.

There is a bidget terminal but i think only tiger use it - its Changi anyway and linked to the other 3 terminals like you say.

OP - you get a free 2 hour city tour or you can get a free bus for "Free and easy" longer stopover.

No need for USD and your ATM card will work down here :D

Asnee 2 and 3 are not exclusive SG and partners. What do you mean by partners? Its not Star Alliance - you pay your money and the airline can use T3

I fly a lot out of Singapore!
