All,

Heading down to Phuket for a weekend in early March. Will be based at the Hilton Arcadia. Want to go to Phang Nga and the James Bond island. Anyone know if we're reasonably close to those places? Can we get a boat in Phuket round to there and which are the best websites to book a day trip on.

Many thanks!

James

Have a look at Phuket.com. You don't need to book online. You can book through the travel agents in the hotels who can throw in their local knowledge.

Go to Phi Phi as well.

Dreadful place James Bond Island... but up to you

Those day trips usually only go there for about half an hour, so if the crowds and tat stalls are too much, it's not a problem.

The trip I went on also went to some other island where you sea canoe into a lagoon and another where you canoe onto a little beach then walk through to a lagoon you can walk in and see mudskippers etc.

They also feed you on the boat.

Despite the rain, I had a brilliant day.

Hi James,

from the Phuket Hilton Arcadia head to Karon Circle roundabout (when looking at the sea, that's to the right) and when you make the full circle there is a travel agent on both sides of the road that can book your trips. A Thai man and wife, nice people, reasonable rates. They'll have it so they pick you up at the Hilton, hassle free service.

Book it when you get here, that way you are not "locked in" too early.
