How To Reach Google.com (us) ?

I'm in the UK so Google seems to have set my preferences for their local .co.uk site.

How can I get into Google.com without deleting all my cookies and passwords?

What happens if I'm in Thailand ... does it switch me onto Google.co.th?

Thanks.

Yes google defaults to locale information or IP address. One way round this is to select www.google.com/ncr which stands for, so I'm told. no country registered. This takes you to main site irrespective of your location.

Yeah, I'm in BKK and it flicks to google.co.th which is ok but never understand why it won't link to just google.com (the US).

The go to google link is to /ncr, the IP address above is to google en {English}, and bypasses the add-ins such as images, maps etc. If one wants to go there by default then use the /ncr option.

adammike, it is not necessary at all for the OP to install additional software to obtain what he wants. Using the URL www.google.com/ncr will do the job splendidly. I know, because I am using that URL as my home page on the Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers.

Reimars suggestion of using http://72.14.207.99 does the trick equally well, in a slightly different fashion. Below are screenshots of the two methods:

http://www.google.com/

Please note that while the toolbar shows http://www.google.com/, the entry for the home page (in Firefox) under Tools, Options, Main is http://www.google.com/ncr

Trevor, choose the one that suits you better.

on the google page just use the "go to google.com" link!!!

i always do that - only need to do it once, it will store your preferences in a cookie and all further google access from the same browser will be to google.com. for example, your firefox google search from the menu bar will also go to google.com.

My computer refused to remember my preference for google.com. That's why I searched and found the advice about google.com/ncr – on this forum – and used it ever since.
