Since there is now previous new thread about a new Thai horror movie, I wanted to start one myself, since I myself am a huge Horror movie fan! :D

I just saw a preview screening of "Shaun of the Dead" last night here in New York City. I really liked it alot, It was very funny, and very well thought out, unlike "Resident Evil: Apocalypse". I have several questions about it , regarding aspecs of British Culture depicted in the movie which I want to ask about later, but from I saw in the movie, I understand why many British men flee England for Thailand! :o

Getting on Thai related topic, are there any good Thai Zombie pictures? I know there are many good Thai Ghost Stories ( "The Eye", "Hien", "Nang Nak" ) If so, are the Thai Zombie movies similar to the regular kind of Asian Zombie pictures (i.e. Hong Kong type ) or the "George Romero / Dawn of the Dead" type zombie pictures?

A "George Romero" type Zombie picture would be great, especially one that takes place in Bangkok! So, are there any good ones to recommend?

Hmmm though Resident Evil 2 wasn´t bad. Dawn of the Dead remake was good apart for the ending if you waiting around and watched the credits.

Anyways might want to check out 28days later or old but campy Return of The Living Dead Series.

Sorta liked "28 days", didn't like the ending....Dawn of the Dead remake was "Ok"......."RE2" was fun, but full of plot holes... Anyway, I can't wait for the fourth "Dead' movie from George Romero that will come out next year, "Land of the Dead"

Like I've said, I've seen almost every Horror movie made here in America , and most of the one from England. I'm trying to find Specifically Horror movies made in Thailand with a Zombie theme...Seems so far that the pickings are slim...... Hmmm.... I guess It's time to write my screenplay then!

It think I'll call it..... "Lek of the Dead"

I really don't have to tell you what it would be about..... :D:o

hi narachon what aspects about uk life do you want to ask about

ummmmmmmmmmmm

Since no one here in Thaivisa seems to know of any good Thai Zombie Movies, I might as well ask these questions of UK culture that I saw while watching "Shaun of the Dead"...

1)In the movie , the TV Reporter mentioned that the "M1, M2, M3.....M60 were all closed off out off London due to the Zombie Crisis.......Are those like the major roads/Highways out of London?

2) Shaun was wacking the dead Zombies with a big square thing that looked like a baseball bat. Was that a "Cricket" bat he was using?

3) There was a scene in which there was a daytime talk show with this English Black woman and the subject was" zombie lovers", Is this a real tv show in England, is the woman like the UK version of Oprah Windfrey,or is the show a sort of a "Jerry Springer" ( trashy reality ) type show ?

4) Are American Western - Themed "Pub"s really popular in London?

5) Do English people like to drink at the same exact pub every night? :D

6) Do all English Pubs have a very convienient trapdoor behind the bar area? :D

7) What exactly is "Electro" music? Is / was it a early form or type of English Hip/Hop?

8) I know that the English police do not have /carry guns, but isn't there a special brach of the police dealing with heavy assault weapons, ie a SWAT team like in DAWN of the DEAD, or the Resident Evil movies? They could have helped Shaun and his friends much sooner, but then again, there would be no movie! -_-

9) Does England have a National Emergency Alert system for Crisises, whether it be Man made, Natural, or inthe case of the movie, Unnatural?

and 10) Is it common for many English people to leave their front doors unlocked? :D:D

Anyway, I really liked the movie, very funny! And even George Romero loved it!

To bad There is practically no info on Zombies or Undead movies in Thailand. I guess There is no supernatural stories of the Undead walking in Thai tradition....Maybe that is a good thing... I'm sure that a real zombie Crisis in Thailand would not be a very pleasant situation, to say the least! :o:wub:

These are Motorways... same as Highways in USA... normally 3 lane each way but some have 4 (like M25)

2) Shaun was wacking the dead Zombies with a big square thing that looked like a baseball bat. Was that a "Cricket" bat he was using?
Yes.. :D

Not having seen the film I would guess you are talking about Trisha... not unlike Jerry and Oprah but really crap TV... normally watched by Housewifes, students, and people who have nothing better to do in the daytime.... :o

4) Are American Western - Themed "Pub"s really popular in London?
Not as far as I'm aware...!
5) Do English people like to drink at the same exact pub every night?

Yep... It's called the "local".... i.e.. " Shall we go down the local for a pint ? "

6) Do all English Pubs have a very convienient trapdoor behind the bar area?
All the old pubs were built with Cellars to keep the beer etc. in, so they will have "trapdoors" to the cellar.... most new pubs have the "cellar" on the same level as the bar.

Most Police Forces in the UK have an "Armed response Squad"... I don't think you can compare them to SWAT though... -_-

9) Does England have a National Emergency Alert system for Crisises, whether it be Man made, Natural, or inthe case of the movie, Unnatural?
Apparently it does .... but the general public are just mushrooms...!
10) Is it common for many English people to leave their front doors unlocked?

Front door... no, maybe the back door if someones in

:D:D:wub:

:(:o:)

totster -_-

:D:D:D

That also reminds me another point about the film....

Spoliers Warning!

The main characters were trying to get into a pub to escape the Zombies, but the front door was locked. Shuan lead the Zombies away from his friends. One of the charcters panics and smashes a Pub window and they get in. Only later do they find out ( by Shaun ) that the back door of the Pub is wide open.... :D

Thanks Totster for your rather extensive knowledge of not only UK culture, but Pubs as well, which I believe you are very well acquainted with!

Thanks Totster!

Hey you forgot one! What is " Electro" music? Maybe Insight could explain this, since he is a DJ and from England..

Anyway...

Hmmm...So no one here knows of any Thai Zombie movies?..... Either there is no Zombie tradition in Thailand, or there are no Thai Zombie pictures at all.... :D

Well, until someone posts any information about it, or when a Thai Zombie movie is actually filmed in Thailand, I guess this thread is as DEAD as the subject matter! :D:o

BTW, I highly recommend people who like comedies and Horror movies see "Shaun of the Dead" It should be opening in Thailand now, if not, I'm sure you can get a copy at Patnip... :D
