markwhite
I'm just getting everything together to head up to Bangkok to get this done, and notice that the application form and one of the photos needs to be countersigned by an official person with a British passport who has known me for 2 years, and there isn't anyone here who meets that description! How did others deal with this, or have I got the wrong end of the stick? Ta, Mark...
markwhite
Though I've just found the C2 Passport Application Notes that state: "If you do not know a British national or other Commonwealth citizen locally with those qualifications, a citizen of the country in which you are residing may complete and sign the form, provided he/she has a similar standing in that country has known you for two years and the Consul considers his/her signature to be acceptable. A member of your family should not countersign." (http://bhc.britaus.net/uploadedFiles/Passports/c2_notes.pdf) So maybe I'll go see what our local doctor will do. Any other advice still welcome. dabhand
Had a similar issue last year over a UK passport for my 8yo. Used a local Thai lawyer I had known for 5/6 years to sign the form and photo. No problem with British Embassy. Would expect that using a qualified doctor would also be OK. torrenova
I was getting stumped on that one as I don't know anyone. Didn't even think about the doctor and I've been going to the hospital for over 2 years so I might drop down there with the baby.
markwhite
they told me my daughters doctor was fine to countersign even thou i have only known her 1 year. Pretty much the same as me as we've only been in this area about 11 months, but that's a good enough answer for me to confirm what I was thinking :-) Thanks to the others for their replies too.
