Just realised that I am 30 days over on my 90 day report.

What is the fine if I go to the immigration department on monday?

I am going out of the country the following week, so should I just leave it and then pay any fine at the airport on the way out, if they realise that I'm late?

Can't beleive that I got the dates mixed up. :o

My understanding is that if you 'give yourself up' you get a 2k fine. If you get caught its a 5k fine, however, has anyone ever been fined at the airport ever for not having their slip?

Yeah, that is what I was wondering?

I think your best bet is to go to the airport and work it out there if there's anything to be worked out.

If you're at the airport, getting ready to get on an airplane, there's no chance of being detained, as long as you have the money to pay whatever fine.

However, I've heard nightmares about people getting caught while in the country (i.e., not on their way out), and being incarcerated like common criminals.

Best to be at the airport on your way out.

And if you really, really want to turn yourself in as opposed to getting caught, you can probably turn yourself in at the airport before you check in for your flight.

Does anybody know what the exact rules are?

I told my local immigration office that I would be away in BKK at the time the reporting day was due. They said no problem, as the hotel is required to report my presence, but that I would have to report my return back home to immigration withing 24 hours.

1. Nobody gets thrown in jail for being late for 90 day address reports - this is not overstay of visa. The most that normally happens is a 2,000 baht fine.

2. Normal reporting allows for plus/minus 7 days.

I can concur with lopburi3--I think it was he who gave advise when I was in a similar situation--I was late to report for my 90 day address report, due to mixups between myself and immigration at Mae Sod--anyway, I just had to pay a standard 2000 Bht fine and no problems--the immigration man then made a point of showing me the date oy my next 90 report just so I was clear--he added that this also had nothing to do with the renewal date of my retirement visa which was due in less than 90 days--i.e. I have to go renew visa March1 2008 and report my next 90 day on April 20-or thereabouts--confusing, eh?

Thanks for the clarification from Lopburi and others. I did indeed confuse some dates, will be more careful next time.
