Hey could someone please help me out here,

My tourist visa is getting nearer its expiring date as I've already used all the possible three stamps I got from Mae Sai from the border runs. So the next question is where to get a new tourist visa? (I've now been here in Chiang Mai for almost 6 months)

I'd like to know if it's possible to get it from Myanmar's (Burma) Thai Embassy or is there some particular reason I couldn't get it from there???

I'm also searching for the cheapest options here 'cause the money's starting to be somewhat finished due to all the shopping :o

Appreciate any information I can get :D

Unless you are Burmese I would not try getting the visa in Burma. Although things can change we have not seen many success stories. Go to Vientiane.

Mirka asked in the Chiang Mai forum, too.

One person responded thus after another poster expressed doubt about the possibility of another tourist visa:

Not unless he has 4 years worth of tourist visa's, and 30 day visa on arrival stamps blottered thick in his passport, even then chances are it's not a big deal -

Get your hiney to the Viantiane Thai Embassy - take the Nok air RT from CM to Udorn and Bus to border. Now ask for the X@ the double entry costs 2000 baht but then you can extend 1 month after your initial 60 days, leave the country, then return for another 60 days then extend it for another month. Thats 6 months total!! No muss no fuss and no whining mewling on TV Also no mis information too.

You buy the 1 month extension for 1900 baht at immigration near the airport. Now lets get a move on and stop with the crying OK

I'd like to know if the suggested course of action is viable. How long would the OP have to leave the country for ? For how long might one be able to remain here this way ?

Why is the OP getting stamps (entry permits ?) if she has a tourist visa ?

It looks like the OP had a single entry tourist visa. They were able to enter for 60 days, then extend it for another 30 days. Then they used 3 x 30 days using the visa exempt entries. This made up their ~6 months.

If you get a double entry tourist visa, then you could enter for 60 days, and extend it for 30 more days. You then could do a border run and enter again on the same visa, staying for 60 days and get an extension for 30 more days. This would make up around 6 months.

Extensions should be applied for around a week before your permission to stay runs out. The second entry on the visa needs to be done before the visa expires, even if you still have more permitted to stay days left.
