Parvo Outbreak In Chiang Mai

Recommended Posts

Posted

Just to warn dog owners that there's a parvo-virus outbreak in Chaing Mai. The vets are full with pups and some older dogs that have developed the disease.

Especially under the puppies there is very high mortality rate once the animal contracts this very contagious disease. Even when the pup or older dog has been vaccinated against this disease it still can get it as there are different strings of this virus and the vaccine doesn't cover all.

How the virus can get to your dog? By direct contact through feces and saliva, but also through your clothes, hands, shoes, car and bike tires, and even birds can bring the virus into your compound.

So, be careful out there! If you have the slighest suspicion that your pup or dog isn't feeling well, such as it eats less then usual, it vomits more than twice, feces become softer or there is some blood in it, it looks less active, BE WARNED! In case of any doubt, go to the vet. Better safe than sorry.
