Going From Kl To Bkk, Heading For Europe - Visa Required ?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

beeing unsure, whether I need a Visa or not ... This is the case :

Have arrived BKK Oct. 1st 2007, went to Penang, stayed in Chiang Mai, went to Cambodia, did a visa run to Mae Sai and stayed in Chaing Mai again. Altogether the allowed 3 months per 1/2 year.

Have left Thailand on the 14 th of Feb.2008 at the last possible day, according to the Visa-Stamp in the passport.

At the moment I am staying in KL.

I intend to travel KL - BKK April 19th, just to catch my flight to Germany, scheduled April 19th from BKK

The question is:

Do I need to apply for a Visa at the embassy ?

(Have been thinking, that, beginning from April 1st, another 1/2 year period may have begun, but I am not sure)

Thank you very much

Stefan

Not sure if you really need it but, but for peace of mind it may be prudent to get a transit visa

since you are already in KL.

Naka.

If I get the transit visa then, I should get it not earlier than the 21 st of March, if departure is scheduled at April 19th. Right ?

As long as you are flying with regular airlines, and will transit "Airside", then you do not need a visa.

However if you are using Air Asia you will need to pass immigration to collect your bags, so a visa will be required.

On April 1st it will start a new 6 month period for him. So he should be able to get a visa exempt entry.

Thank You, that was my initial thought too, but I was not sure about.... :o

So you can't just get a visa on arrival?

The 15 day VOA is only available to a small list of countries. As he has been using 30 day visa exempt entry (90 days in a six month period) he is not on that list.

I have been in thailand on a non imm O for 15 months, and am currently on a 60 day TV, which I'm hoping to extend. When that's expired - on 8th April - I'm planning on going to vietnam for a month before returning to the UK via Bangkok at the end of may. I was hoping to spend a couple of weeks in Bangkok before taking my home flight - can I not get a 15 day VOA then?

Will I qualify for a 30 day visa exempt entry, given my previous visas? If so, how do I get one?

And you have what passport? 30 day visa exempt entry is not an option for those able to obtain 15 day VOA; as my post #8 tried to point out.
