gunnerterry
I am thinking of changing my daughters school and a third party has recommended pan asia international school, this is quite a new school and before i go to see the school i was wondering if there are any teachers or ex teachers of this school that could give me their opinion . Alternatively if there are any parents with children at this school, reading this topic, i would be really interested to hear your opinion of the teaching and facilities prior to making a visit

It certainly doesn't appear to have a good reputation within the teaching community.
mrtoad
I stand corrected, I know someone who sends there kids there, and they can't speak highly enough of it. Just make sure you check it out to make sure it meets your childs requirements and needs. Good luck.
Aussiechic
I spent quite a happy year working at PAIS (2006-2007) and felt that, from a teaching perspective, it had a lot of potential; small class sizes, good facilities, reasonable salary. My memories might not be so relevant to this thread, a lot could have changed, but besides the upheavals that surely occur in any start-up school, PAIS was a safe, focused, ‘entry-level’ international school with a sensible mission. When I taught there, PAIS delivered a curriculum based on that of the state of Massachusetts (I don’t know why this particular one was chosen). The caliber and qualifications of the staff at that time (including myself) were best reflected in the reasonable school fees! My class at PAIS was composed mainly of Thai nationals, predominantly Muslim, but there was no compulsion for non-Muslims to attend prayers or even the Arabic lessons. When I was working there, visitors were frequent; anyone was welcome and I sometimes felt a fish in a tank. My best advice is to visit the school yourself. I would warn against choosing a school based on the advice of a friend or someone. Only choose PAIS if you are happy with an American curriculum, and in my experience, parents who are talked into going somewhere end up switching to a school which offered the curriculum they wanted in the first place. tariq786
Hi, My Daughter is in Grade 2 and Son in KG3 in Pan Asia International School. I am happy about their progress. Tariq Hi.. Where have you got the information that PAIS is going for IB Certification? I can't find it on the website. Is this true? Is IB better than British or any other curriculum? It's not that IB is better than the traditional British A Levels or vice versa. IB International Baccalaureate is trendy now because it is more transferable. Traditional British A Levels are specialist - if you want to go to a top British university to study a traditional subject like Medicine or Law, the A levels will get you in. To get into a top university to do medicine you need straight As in sciences and Maths. You don't need to study anything else. If you know exactly what you want in life (when you are 15+ years old already) then A Levels are the best. If you want to decide later, then IB will get you into more places in more countries. But you have to study a wider range of subjects, including those you may not need, in order to keep all the doors open....
