Married To Luk Krung

Featured Replies

Hi all, I need some advice on marriage visas.

My wife and I are going to move to Thailand. I am an Aussie (under 50) and she is Thai-American - holds both passports. A few years ago we got married and at that time we registered our marriage in Thailand - using her US passport. For the first couple of years in Thailand, she is going to work for a Thai company so no problems showing the income requirement. My income will come from overseas.

My question is will it create problems for a marriage visa for me if she used her US passport when we registered the marriage? If not, what documents should I show to the Thai embassy in Australia when I apply for a non-immigrant visa? Probably can't take my wife along because she's currently in the US.

Thanks. Any suggestions appreciated.

As long as you have the marriage certificate then that will be sufficient.

You will need a copy for the Thai embassy/consulate. Take the original as well, just in case they want to see it.

A copy of you wife's Thai passport (and Thai id card if she has one) should complete the set.

Thanks I can provide all those docs!

They will give you a non-imm "O" based on the marriage certificate and ID card, but might not with passport instead of ID card.
