Can anyone advise a newbie on best system to install to get Australian tv and also astro tv instead of the dismal local cable tv in my apt now. I do have room and permission to install sat dish(es)

Technically any other system than True / UBC is illegal since it doesnt have broadcast licensing..

So its then back street style deals for the cards and a real PITA to keep subs going without a connection in each of the countries. Many people use (illegal) cardsharing techniques for both MultiChoice and Astro.

Go to a local dealer and see if they do a 'Dreambox' solution. See what they can offer you.

Exactly.. But not all solutions are created equal.. A reliable server will be the difference between a working or annoying system.

Best to learn and understand the process yourself, rather than just have an 'install' you dont understand.

Yes its not hard to use a dreambox as a PVR solution.. Or stream the TV feed to the PC as an MPEG data stream to watch live TV on the PC..

And of course a dreambox will use a regular access card too, I use a legit card with mine but use the system to have multiple nodes.

Astro does cover Bangkok, good picture too, better than the over compressed UBC.

Be careful with jsat, they peddle copied boxes and you legit prices. I have since used
