Buddist Organization / Monastary That Takes Care Of Abandoned Boys ?

Featured Replies

I wonder if there is any buddist organisation / monastary that would take on two 7-years old boys, abandoned, and running wild in a slum area.

There are probably many monasteries that would love to take them on as novices in 4 - 5 years time. But 7 seems to be a difficult age, they are not cute little babies any longer, but at the same time too young to take care of themselvs.

Two lively 7 years old boys, used to be able to run wild in a slum, are not easy to deal with. Only people with lots of experience can handle these children; I know I can't.

Grateful for any suggestions.

Many temples have "dik wat" ....dik=child....wat=temple....so dik wat is a child who lives at the temple....go to temples and ask how to place two children at a temple....this might work...I don't know of any agency that might help with this but there very well might be one or even many...I live in very rural place so this kind of stuff is taken care of by the community at large around here without any special agency involvement.

Where are the kids at the moment ? If in Northern Thailand i can put you in touch with Croston House (childrens home) in Lamphun.

PM me if you would like their number. :o

Thank you very much for your kind help.

I haven't been able to find much information about Croston House on the internet.

Maybe you have an e-mail address ? A little bit more information in writing might be the right way to start.

Again, thank you very much.

Thank you very much, this is very interesting.

I have talked to two local temples, and they don't seem interested.

I can think of two reasons for this,

one that the monks feel that the boys can do much better than become tempelboys, if a farang has taken them under his wings,

the other that the boys are quite notorius in the area, and the monks might feel that they can't handle them properly.

Again, thank you very much, you made me think about things.
