Is it possible to have a multi-entry non-imm B valid to August but return to the UK in April and obtain a new multi-entry (obviously the original needs to be cancelled)?

If possible, where/how to cancel the visa?

First option, obviously, is to go to Immigration and just ask them to cancel it.  Your reason sounds reasonable, not being able to utilized it fully.

Second option is to do as I did some years back with a stamp I didn't like, forget just now what it was for, but not earthshaking.  It would, however, have screwed up a second visa run.  So, I visited the stationary department at Robinson and bought a "Canceled" stamp and a red ink pad, did the deed myself.  Worked fine, but not recommended in every instance.

Just go apply for a new one, they will cancel the old one at the consulate.
