I showed them several salary advice slips. Actually it's my company pension. A letter from them stating income, ask them to declare the amount sent rather than money before tax. I also had to get a letter from the UK embassy, as the letter from the company declared the pre tax amount

Do they ask to see the thai bank statements or can it go into offshore account.

If so do they require proof of said money going in

A letter from the bank, tell them why you need it. The will include the money you have in any account in the letter, and they also tell the immigration people how long the account has been open. I think they charge about 200 Baht for the letter. The Kasikorn do anyway.

Hi there,

well.

You need the a Non Imm O valid for tree months. Within the last mont you can apply for an extension of stay with the immigration. There you need the following documents:

  • TM 7 Form and a newer photo of you
  • your passport (original and photocopies of the whole thing)
  • Marriage Certificate (original and photocopies)
  • Marriage Protocoll (photocopies)
  • Taminien Baan of your wife (original and photocopies)
  • ID Card of your wife (original and photocopies)
  • a map (handdrawing or computer) where you stay (house, condo appartement)
  • 3 - 4 pictures of you and your wife in front of your place (make sure the house number is visible on the picture), inside the house (living room, kitchen etc)
  • Your Salary statement with 40'000 (if not in english translate it into thai), certified by your embassy in Bangkok
  • Interview with you and your wife about where you met, how long you stay together .... will be done at the immigration

You need two complete sets of the whole set of documents...

At the immigration remember to dress nice and be friendly with the staff. Keep smiling!

If your paperwork is accepted they will stamp you a 30 day consideration of extension stamp in your passport. Upon aproval they will call you and stamp the extension of stay in your passport.

Have fun!

Why do newbies feel the need to give information to other newbies/

The said Info most of the time is not correct,or old,or misleading.

OP,please, wait for a better poster:Lopburi,is only one example of correct and through advice. :o

Before someone flames me,I will state that, years ago, didn't need what the poster suggests, nor did I later,up to now!

There are almost as many, different, sets of documents as there are immigration offices. And there is often a 'flavor of the month' for a specific item. Do not depend on any list to be absolute. I do not know what the poster above means by "marriage protocoll" either but some applicants have been asked from special paperwork such as copy of the Embassy marriage paper or an internal paper the District Office can provide a copy of. But most do not require either of those. Another thing is that only a single copy is required in Bangkok and some other offices - but some will require two copies of everything. In general believe the above report is quite good and covers what will be required for most applicants.

Just a couple of points here, you are probably aware of the fact that your Thai Wife/Husband must accompany you for the initial application interview. Secondly, if you have children from the marriage you need the birth certificates and copy/copies plus they also must also be present on the initial application for extension. Obvious to those of us familiar with the routine but maybe not so obvious to those "First timers".

Goodluck with your aplication.
