Sven Wants Thaksin To Open His Wallet!

Featured Replies

First off, I wanted to post this link in the Thailand News section, but for some reason I keep getting a message saying that I am not permitted to post in that section.

Can any one explain why this is?

Anyway, for those interested, here is a link to the subject of this thread from the BKK Post:

he already has opened his wallet....to the tune of 8 mill BHT to keep himself out of nick

Welcome to the forum racefan....who's your team ??

All these billionaire chairmen pouring money into transfer fees is just another nail in the coffin of football.

Man City are a big club with loyal support, but id sooner see them win the league off their own steam then have some thieving billionaire try to buy it for them.

We've tried to do it off our own steam for decades to no avail. In the meantime many of the other clubs have been getting huge investment, thus making the divide even greater.

As for the title of the topic, you could easily replace it with "Avram Grant wants Abramovich to open his wallet" it applies to EVERY club and EVERY Manager.

"We've tried to do it off our own steam for decades to no avail" (leeds leeds leeds)

(ere stop crying, and what you doing on here at this time of day, youll never get back here if ya dont go to work)

I hear Mr T is going back to Manchester to knock em all into shape, tell him call off elland road on way!

That money was all generated by the club, hence the huge debt that Mike Ashley took on.

Between 1998 and 2006 we spent about 10 million a year on average.

That was a quote from 2 weeks ago, i think 250 million would be a more accurate sum.

Its not good for the game when your teams success is based on who has the most generous foreign billionaire.

When Jack Walker done it, that was a little different IMO as he was Blackburn born and bread and had a genuine affection for the club the people and the town.

We know Abramovich puts his own money in and Chelsea is his little play thing, but does anyone know if Thaksin is using his money to buy all these players that Sven wants or is it beng added to the club debt.

That's a very good point. I don't know if he's using his own money or underwriting money from the banks as loans to the club. Our chairman at Forest makes up the short fall on the season on season trading loss which amounts to 4 - 5 million per season however, this is a loan he makes to the club & not just given into a black hole. This is what worries me about not progressing through the leagues. As long as he's willing to keep doing this then fine but if he got bored of fell into financial difficulties then we'd be in trouble. We'd need Bill Gates or someone like that to bail us out.

or is it beng added to the club debt.

We don't have any debts anymore :o

Ther is money frozen in Thailand but who know's what is outside

There are a multitude of ways though to raise money at a football club - its not often the chairman actually sticks his hand in his own pocket

They could securitize future gate receipts, earnings (anyone in finance to expain this as I only know a little??)

Out and out borrowing against assets ie ground etc

or is it beng added to the club debt.

As Prakanong says "who knows what is outside". :D
