SWIFT payment transfer or UK Cheque Deposit?

I am assuming Cheque is the cheapest and can be deposited monthly providing you dont mind waiting a few weeks for the funds whereas SWIFT is quicker but more expensive??

Will cheque deposits show up as funds from outside LOS in passbook to satisfy Imm??

What is the longest it takes for Cheque Deposits to be available in Thai Bank??

Thanks for your input.

If the UK deal is the same as the U.S. $$, it takes about three working days (sometimes less) for a EFT (Eletronic Funds Transfer) to reach my SCB branch baht account, and costs me some $40 from my U.S. bank.  Have only used this means when buying a car or the house.  Copy of the SCB receipt for a foreign check deposit attached.

For a U.S. $$ personal check, which I do monthly amounting to baht 65,000 (use this amount for my annual "retirement" extension at Immigration) the cost is baht 203 at SCB.  They hold the funds for 45 days, altho I do get interest from the day of recording at the branch, or so I've been told.  Usually the check clears my U.S. bank in about seven days.  Some SCB branches old access to the baht funds for 60 days.

And, with the U.S. $$ tanking it's costing me a bunch more per month now to get that bah 65,000 than it did not so very long ago.  Booo!

Do you have to show 65000Baht going in every month or is the letter showing you have income to that amount sufficient

The check clears the US bank in 7 days, so how long before you get the funds? Always 45 days?

I deposited a US Bank draft (not personal) in BKK Bank last week. They said 30-45 days :D

Is it EVER faster? I would like to have the funds and the USD will be worth a peso in 45 days.. :o

Thanks for any insights on this...

Cheque clearing times from the UK to Thailand can take up to six weeks, based on which bank you use.

Swift transfers are more expensive but the total cost is not exactly huge.

You may be able to work out something with say Bangkok Bank in London so suggest you have a chat with them. Maybe deposit your UK cheque at BB London and Swift from BB London to Thailand.
