Suan Plu And Tr 30-day Extension

Featured Replies

My VISA for 60 days is due to expire on 19 March, as indicated by the stamp on my passport when I entered Thailand. I'm heading to Suan Plu either tomorrow (17th) or Tuesday (18th) to have it extended for another 30 days. My questions are as follows:

(1) Which level and counter at Suan Plu can I head straight into ? I get utterly confused and lost when I see Thai scripts.

(2) If I go on the 17th, what is the likely last day of my 30 days extension ? I have heard that if I go on 17th March, my last day will be 16th April. There is a VISA run company who says that is not the case, that since the stamp on my passport indicates that my last day is 19th March, even if I go a week earlier, my 30-day extension will still be calculated according to the stamp on my passport, not the date I present my passport to the immigration for extension.

Moved to the Thailand visas and residency sub-forum.

Scouse.

Go to the ground floor information counter (English signage), they will give you a form to fill out.

Prior to going to the Office just go over the road and get passport copies and passport photo done (shop knows what pages have to be copied).

Nice officer will give you a numbered ticket to the correct window and there is a highly visible electronic counting system, so you will know when it is your turn.

When requested hand in fee, passpot copies and photo, and form (don't forget second side).

The date they will extend for 30 days is the day that you attend. I did this procedure one week ago, and that is what happened to me!

when you get to immigration at suan plu, enter by the door on the extreme right hand side, once you have entered the building there is a counter on your left hand side manned by officials, request an extension form from the officials.

there are counters that have examples in english of how to fill in the form.

after filling in the form go back to the counter, talk to the nice lady and tell her you want to submit an extension form, she will give you a ticket with a number on it.

just to the left hand side of the counter is the main room you will go to, i think you have to go to counter 2, not to sure, anyway there are screens that will flash up which number is being accepted by which counter, just wait for your number to flash up and go to the relevant counter

sometimes can get busy so be prepared to wait, i think the extension fee is 1,900 baht, but could be wrong.

In my experience and every report I have seen the extension of stay will start at your current permitted to stay until date. I suspect the above post by sweet dreams means he applied on the last day but would appreciate confirmation of that.

Your number, matches the counter. If you get a 5xx number, it is counter 5, a 2xx number, is for counter 2.

There are counters in the lobby where you can fill out the forms and there is glue at the end of the counter to attach your picture.

I posted this in another thread and I will keep the forum updated.

My date stamp on my PP is 19 March. To play safe I will go on 18 March, so that if it goes on the basis of date of attendance I will get my day of my 30 days on 17 April. My scheduled border run is on 17 April.

Sweetdreams is not the only person to have said that. I have heard from others that it's based on date of attendance too, and they didn't go on the last day.

Only if you are extending a visa exempt stamp should it be based on date of application.

Is it necessary to submit photos ?

What would be the best time of the day to visit ?

A 4x6cm photo must be attached to the TM.7 application. Probably after lunch would be best but it stays busy most of the time.

Are they particular about size of photos ? My Passport and VISA photos are all 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm ?

Do they have a photo booth in Suan Plu ?

Probably not but there are photo places across the street if required.

The 30days will be calculated from 19March, it does not matter if you go on 17/18 or even on 19 to the Immigration.

They are not particular and your size should be OK.

Anyhow ,across the street from Immigration Building there are about 4 to 5 Photo/copyshops who could provide you with more pictures.

I would rather not take the risk for now because my scheduled trip to Border is on 17 April. If somehow I ended up like a couple of forumers who had their 30-day extension "cut-short" because they went early, I would have difficulty trying to get a VISA run agent to bring me to the border during Songkran.

But I will go tomorrow. If you're right, then they should extend my VISA to 18 April. If not, it will be 17 April and I'm still on schedule for my VISA run. :o

Did go today (March 17) ... stamp is until 16th of April. Surprisingly, arrived at 13:40, left at 14:15 .... very fast .... :o

It would be useful if you could also tell us the previous expiry date stamp on your passport.

Ok, I did my extension at Suan Phlu this afternoon at 12.45 pm. After filling up the form and getting the photocopies done across the road, I submitted the form at 1.00 pm.

I was 3rd in the queue apparently, and I got my extension and passport back at 1.15 pm. Amazingly efficient !

As for the date, my passport was to have expired on 19 March. I submitted for extension this afternoon (18 March), and I got my new expiry date is 18 April.
