Hi,

I'm looking for a "functional" piece of software which would allow me to extract the chapters on a DVD with only 1 language.

I have different DVD's of the Dora (Nickelodeon) collection, and I want to extract the different episodes to my Hard-Disk (and deleting afterwards all the doubles, menu's and "copy warning" crap).

I have been trying dozens of software packages in the last week, without result or with a very poor result after doing "x" conversions.

Does anybody have experience with a good software to achieve this?

TIA

I have been using Nero 7 to copy DVDs to my hard-drive (with only English language and no sub-titles) and then reformatting them so I can watch them on my iPod. That cuts the size down to 600-800mb per movie.

I can also watch the finished product on my laptop - using Apple's Quick Time viewer.

That works very well if there is only 1 movie on the DVD.

But I haven't been able to extract the different episodes on the DVD if it is a compilation.

It would need a lot of manual reformatting (cut and paste) to get the final result.

There may be several solutions depending on how the chapters are organized on DVD (VOBs) and if you wish to re-encode the VOBs to AVIs and essentially compress the files to make them smaller.

Some steps...

1.) Decrypt if necessary, using DVDdecrypter, IFO/VOBs to HD.

2.) Re-encode using Auto Gordian Knot, to AVIs. Can choose single VOBs or entire DVD by IFO.

3.) If a single AVI, extract desired segments using AVI Split Classic.
