April 11, 200818 yr I'm on a trip away from home (in California) and I have those equipments in my camera bag (my standard kit on trips anywhere). Good news - lots of new pics to review when you get home? OK, here's one.. A beggar and a street vendor on both side of the U.S./Mexican border on San Diego/Tijuana border check point, shot while I and my wife are waiting in a long queue on Mexico side to re-enter U.S. after attending an opening ceremony of my friend's new factory in Tijuana. April 11, 200818 yr Nice theme - reminds me of my "contrasting lifestyles" submission. I particularly like the atmosphere that the shadows (of you and your wife?) have produced And it's definitely a b&w shot. On a humane note - so sad to see
April 11, 200818 yr Author I particularly like the atmosphere that the shadows (of you and your wife?) have produced Yes, me on left and the shadow with backpack my wife. And it's definitely a b&w shot. Yes, I realized that the original shot in color was pointless, so developed it into b&W with rather high contast (obviously), to enhance dramatic effect. On a humane note - so sad to see Yes, the morality of shooting the beggar crossed my mind, but when I looked at the composition through the viewfinder I didn't think twice about releasing the shutter. I forgot to cast him a dollar bill (he was asleep anyway). Maybe I'm too used to seeing them in Thailand and became indifferent to their plight. Edited April 11, 200818 yr by Nordlys
April 11, 200818 yr Interesting to see who is where............ Commerce in Mexico and the beggar in the USA. A sign of things to come?
April 11, 200818 yr Author Interesting to see who is where............Commerce in Mexico and the beggar in the USA. That's what I initially intended this pic to signify but I'm sure the beggar is also Mexican as there's literally no check point on Mexican side of the border (what a waste of time and money my Thai wife's 1,000 Baht Mexican visa was).
